Somehow, a couple of scratches appeared on the back of the bowl of a new briar pipe I have. Should I refinish it to try to eliminate that? I’ve never done anything like this before so pardon the lack of knowledge on my part.
Pictures? The scratch part of it is not the most serious thing in terms of importance. That you can live with. What is probably a little more disturbing as a place it’s about an eighth of an inch wide in diameter where it looks like the “finish“ (if that’s what you call it) is peeled away. Almost like a piece of varnish that wiped off. I don’t know if it is varnish or whatever it is.
Ah, I was wondering how you went with thatSounds like lacquer. I’m still trying to get that shit off a Peterson I own. I swear they mixed construction glue into it as it’s so hard to remove
I should post a pic sometime. It is working but very slowly. I have a go at it every few weeks.Ah, I was wondering how you went with that
Obviously acetone didn't work ?
I don’t know the answer to this, so take it as a question not as a statement, but can hot spots in the chamber cause the exterior finish to peel?Tried to show in the picture. Doesn’t show well graphically but it’s just like chip of varnish peeled off or something.
Mate, I applaud patience and persistence. ?I should post a pic sometime. It is working but very slowly. I have a go at it every few weeks.
That's so out of focus as to be useless.Somehow, a couple of scratches appeared on the back of the bowl of a new briar pipe I have. Should I refinish it to try to eliminate that? I’ve never done anything like this before so pardon the lack of knowledge on my part.
