I wish I could try some Gawith products but they have been out of stock here in Europe since I started smoking a pipe. But apparently, they may be becoming available here soon. If it does happen I am going to try a lot of blends
Considering how severely they've cut the flavorings on Lakelands in the past couple of years, SG and G&H have fallen off of my radar.
Love it. One of my favorites. But it’s possible, as Embers said, that the flavoring has been cut back. Would still be good though.

To me it tastes like a minty menthol cig. Not a fan of it...but hey, give it go. Dry the crap out of it too.
I enjoy Samuel Gawith tobacco, particularly Golden Glow and Navy Flake. It’s all very moist though, so make sure you dry it (either by air or in the microwave).
It must be that "special sauce" for that day !!!!! lol Unless someone slipped something odd into my bowl !! damm kids these days!!!
You're not alone. I've only smoked it a few times but thought I picked up on something minty also. Guess I gotta smoke some today to clear this up.
I should have given out a shout to Golden Glow. when it reaches 10-15 years old it's like smoking a butter cup. Smooth as silk, couldn't bite you if tried and one of the few SG products you can smoke right out of the tin with no drying time.
You also need a delicate palette to be able discern the sweeet mild flavors the blend offers. This not in your face tobacco, it is soft and builds it's flavors while smoking it. I am pretty good as =t tobacco descriptions, I certainly make jiminks look like an amateur.

It's almost surreal to talk about the Gawiths these days, because everyone may have gotten something completely different but with the same label on it.

Hell, we could blame it on Covid too. Ya know ,that lack of smell/taste thing...like when you get the a common cold. Or maybe all the colds have gone away - along with the typical flu strains.

I recently bought some Junior Mints. I swear they cut back on their sauce. It's a good thing I have some older stuff aging in mason jars.

Followed through and smoked a couple small bowls of the Kendal Cream today and no, didn’t pick up anything minty like I remembered. It’s been in a jar for a few years so maybe it faded away.
