Harris, Peck, Duane, Mark.... All motivated me to get focused on getting my cellar right.

Yep, I get what I can afford and have not regretted a penny. A lot of their posts helped me on my way.

Everything else aside, these drops sure are a hell of an impulse-sales technique, even if it's unintentional. Worked on me like a charm. I bought 250 g. worth of tobacco I've never even seen before, much less smoked, and paid shipping at two different places today. I sincerely doubt I would have done that just out of the blue if it weren't for the whole sporting beat-the-clock aspect of it. :) Kind of disappointed in myself, really, feel like a bit of a sucker. My curiosity about whether these blends really are that special and not merely rare got the better of me, I guess. Regardless, I'm psyched to try 'em out if the orders go through. I'm sure it drives smokers in cellaring mode nuts, but it's very cool of dudes like cohibajoe and weedsnager to share their fishing spots with John Q. Public noobs like me. Thanks again, fellas!

What did you score? Oh yeah trubka2, PM sent.
Ha! I think it was Cream Skiffle or Full Squadron or something like that. Can't remember. What does it matter anyways, right? Not like I could tell the difference. :D

Both are a delight, and quite different. Don't let the moisture surprise you as dry time comes part and parcel with many Gawith blends. Congrats on the grab!

Sorry, I thought you were joking, Embers, so I was attempting to joke too... Dang Internet!
I got one tin each of 1792 (I think I like the tonquin on some other blends I've tried, and I like the strong stuff), FVF (just because)), Kendal Cream (I love Burley), SM and SL (never tried a real, live English English from England). Fun times ahead! It's going to be a killer waiting for them to dry out before stuffing them in a pipe. :x
Obviously, I'm not cellaring - just taking the shoot-anything-that-moves approach to trying all sorts of different tobaccos. Tried about 40 or so now. Trouble is, I almost never take an immediate dislike to any of them - they all kind of taste good to me, with rare exception. So, I guess I'm doomed to not having any go-to blends. That's just as well, I suppose - it would be just my luck to get addicted to something that immediately becomes super-rare.

That sounds like how my cellar started.

The wait can be the hardest part. Laying the tobacco on a paper towel or microwaving it for 5-8 seconds helps the process.

.

Not so cool if you already knew the fishing spot.

This was exactly me 6 months ago. Finally starting to add depth to my cellar. Keep at it though and I find this "discovery" phase to be quite fun!

robcapp, glad to hear I was of help to you. If I were looking to buy any SG products I would be pounding the phone calling small mom and pops in the low tax states. With the advent of social media and the practice of posting threads about an SG drop, the chances of scoring something from the larger retailers is lower than ever, plus they have limits.

There is still plenty out there, you just have to find it. I would also recommend to never posting a thread about some small mom and pop you found. Keep it to yourself and friends if you don't want them to be forever burned. You might even find some smaller guys will sell you all you want with no limits.

Here is the bottom line. Hoarding is wrong. It wastes your money, it wastes good tobacco and it only benefits tobacco sellers (unless you are one yourself).

Foursided, Here's the actual bottom line. Your opinion isn't the only opinion. I wholeheartedly believe you are wrong. Wrong on many levels.

I'm guessing you didn't find any friends. Sad really. Just checked and the place where I got the 250g packs of 1792 and they still have Gawith in stock. Even in spite of the rampant hoarding!

Is hoarding != (not equal) cellaring?
