Anybody pick up a new ropp from the sale? It's usually not my cup of tea but I picked this churchwarden cutty up.

Too many pipes to use this sale, but I like my one Ropp a lot, nice open draw and light weight and ample bowl, with a bright red stain and a bright ruby stem, but tasteful. I like French pipes a lot.

Yeah, I'd definitely call that an egg shape. I own a Genod egg, and I marvel at how much blend that little bent pipe will pack. The egg is a deceptive shape in that way. I admit, shape names are slippery. What some call a brandy can be a volcano to others, and what some call a billiard with a short bowl is a pot to others, and so on.

Yeah, I agree about the shape definitely, but all of these are listed as acorns and in the specs section under shape are called eggs. Honestly I think Algerian Superior Acorn has a better ring to it than Algerian Superior Egg

I have found a few Q tips and alcohol in the shank to remove any residual stain makes for a perfect first smoke!

The quality of briar used in Algerian Superiors is exceptional but the stem button shaping leaves something to be desired, fine little pipes no doubt , I read somewhere Ropp pipes are manufactured by Chapuis Comoy : Chacom

Great pipes! I wanted to get one of their stack billiards but as I said in another thread, I just can’t justify another pipe right now. These are absolute steals at these sale prices though. Congrats to all of you and your new Ropps. I only have one (a cherrywood) but it’s a great smoker and a unique pipe.

I really wanted to like the Ropp Vintage Stouts because I loved the way they look and the size. I bought 3 and sold them bc the draw is too tight for my liking.

I love the Qandale shapes. Passed on one on eBay when it was the Gandalf before they changed the name due to copyright. That one had an oval bowl.
