I have a lot of respect for fordm60. He's a good guy, though we may disagree on points.

Being an old Cajun Fart I don't understand this manly thing, Guess we're are too simple, in 50 yrs of marriage the only time my wife got on my case is when my 20th year class reunion I wore my Stetson Stocksman hat I paid 600$ for. One of my obnoxious classmate came over and took it off my head with wet hands from holding a beer and put it on his head . I gave him a Jap Slap he"ll never forget . You don't touch another mans hat. Wife was really pissed at me. I don't know if that was manly, I believe it was a show of bad manners by my classmate, anyway he won't do it again.

I should -- I am told it burns calories and keeps the heart healthy -- but lately I've just been enjoying the conversation and the personalities involved. Based on a long study of personalities on online forums, I think I have transitioned to a different type of online persona, one who nurtures through indirect stimulus. I better serve the community in this role, perhaps. Well, that and promoting Royal Yacht of course!

Wow. Lots of viewpoints that I don't care about in this thread: the one that holds that lack of representation is as important a feminist issue as voting rights, the one that holds that female characters in fantasy escapist entertainments is unrealistic and ruins them, and the one that holds that Star Wars is anything more than fluffy light entertainment and an incredibly successful series of toy advertisments, or for that matter, matters.
OK, did that get me shortlisted for the forum curmudgeon of the month award? I can try harder...

In my mind this is not an online community. This is a group of pipe smokers that meet online. To assume that most of us would like each other is a mistake.

DM, if I understand your position, you'd rather stir the fire than add a log to it. Fair enough.
For the most part, I just ignore this stuff. But every once in a while I just can't resist the blood lust. I'm working on that.
Anyway, I've had my fun here and am done with this thread.

I was coming into this thread with a lot of anger due to that sexist drivel, but I am glad to see a lot of well informed, egalitarian, and fair gentlemen here. And as for the original poster claim that casting a female as Rogue one is just PC feminist crap, I guess he needs to refresh his Star Wars Knowledge about the expanded universe, which is canonical and revised by Lucas Films, and in it Rogue one IS a woman. And as a fun fact, in the original script Luke's character was a female, but it was changed to cater to the public opinion then, which was more sexist. And as for Masculine activities including pipe smoking being under attack by women? Really? Did someone prevented you from pipe smoking for being a man? Women are just exercising their freedom and enjoying fun activities just like you do.. What's masculine about tobacco burning in a bowl of wood. It is just smoking.. We do it and enjoy it, ladies do it and enjoy it. FULL STOP..being threatened by that is the most astoundingly ridiculous claim I have heard in a while

I think what I (we) have learned here is, Feminism and Crap, can not be used under any circumstances. Does not matter whether or not it was a post Under General Discussion or not. Some folks can't put their Big Boy pants on and have a discussion.
Ahmad, why one would come to a thread with anger, I have no clue. If one of the ladies posted something about Patriarchal Crap, I wouldn't be angry, that's not very rational. You brought a great point about Luke being a female, I did forget that. The Luke/Leia character was melded. I can conceded maybe the OP was a ridiculous claim, but now that we see how irrational a group can be, I wonder.
