Removing Cake from the Bottom of the Bowl

I've been reaming an estate pipe I picked up on ebay, and have run into a similar problem. I like the popsicle stick trick - though I'm curious if it will remove enough material. If not, I will try that with sandpaper - now to buy some popsicles

Five Brothers is the only blend that could possibly produce cake in the heel of any of my pipes.
