So, I'm a simpleton when it comes to blends, preferring to buy pipes and keep the tobacco the same. Dominican CH or PA mixed with a little 5 Brothers has been my all day smoke for a while now. I've always noticed a bit of a chemical taste especially with CH, but throwing 5 Bros in the mix, toned it down some. I've tried airing out both and it seemed to help, but these last few tubs I have noticed are particularly chemical tasting. I tried other blends I have and didn't taste chemicals, but my allergies have been known to really mess up the taste of smoke. The old pouches of PA were more chemical tasting to me than the new Dominican funnily enough.

I guess I'm at the point where I am really wanting to find a non codger/otc blend that is still in the same ballpark to smoke mindlessly all day. I was thinking of trying Pegasus by C and D as I heard it's a souped up modern codger blend, but I'd love to hear your suggestions. LJ Peretti and Uhle sound right up my alley, they're just a tad pricey to smoke all day. Also a friend recommended me Cowboy Coffee from Country Squire.

There is no bad premium pipe tobacco for sale in the USA markets, it’s all good.

Any bag of any flavor of Super Value or Smoker’s Pride is as good as pipe tobacco gets, or it wouldn’t be there on the rack to buy.

For the golden present time, we live in a world where good leaf is only two dollars and something a pound, the federal tax is only $2.83 a pound, and there is intense competition between brands of pipe tobacco being sold to an affluent and declining market of geezers.

Enjoy it while it lasts.

Guess what happens to all us geezers?

It’s not pretty, not at all.

While I don’t think of this in your codger blend family you listed, I will say

Watch City's Fibonacci Sequence

Is one of my go to all day blends. The more I smoke it, the more I like it. Truly a phenomenal blend. I classify it as an all day smoke.

Brad, how would you classify Fibonacci? You're right that it's not a codger blend, and not burley based, but my first impression is it doesn't fit the standard English mode, either?

Wilke or Boswell. Save your time and money and go straight for the best.
Wilke #1 is a good all day smoke.

WILKE No. 1
Mild every day smoke, black unsweetened cavendish with a touch of burley black and royal scot.

I like Pegasus, but for my nic tolerance it isn’t an all day smoke. Two medium sized bowls a day max, if I space them well apart. YMMV.

Be interested to hear this also. I just read Jim's review.
When I read Jim’s review I didn’t know if it was for me or not.
I bought a pound of it blind. I have maybe less than half a pound left.

I get that Virginia takes the lead in this blend, followed by the rest. Very Virginia forwarded taking center stage if that makes sense.
It’s complex while yet simple.

Review says it’s light English I think.

OP says looking for an all day smoker is only reason I brought it up. But it’s nothing like the codger blends mentioned in OP. Nor does it taste chemically.

I second the Granger recommendation.
If you want to try something that, to me, seems like a deluxe version of a good codger burley, albeit a more expensive one, you might try GH Rum Flake. Or their American Delite, which if I recall correctly is sold as a bulk blend on one of the big online stores, though I can't recall which one right now.

Oooh. Smoking the AVC G&H right now.
Thats another reminder of an upgraded codger blend.

You could get a bag of samplers from The Country Squire.
@SunriseBoy generously sent me samples of Cowboy Coffee, Cherokee and Black Arrow.
All 3 are easy going smokes.
One or two could qualify easily as all-day smokes.
^^^^^^^^^^^ This, and add Black & Tan to the list. It is a 50/50 burley-to-cavendish mix with a vanilla and sugar topping.

Just to throw out something different: you might try some of the “RYO” “pipe tobaccos”, focusing on those with cocoa/carob toppings. Largo sun grown, for example. I anyway find it as pleasurable as 5 bros blended with milder OTC tobaccos, and the price is very low

My all-day go to blend is a simple combination of Lane BCA and blending Latakia.

An old YouTube friend created a blend called "Chocolate Manhood" using 1 part Lane 1Q and 1 part blending Latakia. Another YT friend mixed it up and took some Lane BCA and blending Latakia to make his own version. I found the BCA and Latakia to be better than the original. It makes for a nice cross-over blend and is easy to smoke all day long. It also has a good aroma. In the last couple years it's become my regular go to smoke and is great anytime of day or all day long.

My recent batch is a one to one mix of BCA and Latakia with a touch of 1Q thrown in as well. I know "Chocolate Manhood" is a terrible name, but I haven't come up with a better name yet. As terrible as the name is, it's a great tobacco blend.
