Ive seen several recommendations for Milan’s “Our Blend” Carter Hall. I’m planning to stop there today and pick some up on my way to Richmond. I’ll let you know what I think although I do NOT have a sophisticated palate.

Also, I have enjoyed all of the blends from Wilke’s I have bought and Uhle’s 44. My favorite Wilke’s at the moment is the Peanut Butter blend. Sounds weird but it’s delicious, at least to me.

Ok, I picked up 2 oz today and am having a bowl of Our Carter Hall now and am really liking it. No relights, love the flavor, no tongue bite. Can see myself ordering more for sure.

Wilke #1 is a good all day smoke.

WILKE No. 1
Mild every day smoke, black unsweetened cavendish with a touch of burley black and royal scot.

I like Pegasus, but for my nic tolerance it isn’t an all day smoke. Two medium sized bowls a day max, if I space them well apart. YMMV.

I smoked a bowl of #1 yesterday and my sister in law liked the aroma and said it smelled like scones. It has a nice, very light aromatic component.

This post is a bit older (as far as Internet chat forums go) but I like C&D Old Joe Krantz white label quite a bit. It's got a molasses and nutty burley taste without being too overly sweet or flavored. Peretti's Burley blends are amazing but you're right, they aren't cheap. OJK white label is available in bulk. I've also mixed in Low Country natural Virginia and Burley into codger blends for a much more natural tasting blend. That's a dirt cheap bulk blend that is $2 an oz when on sale

I like Granger and Velvet better than CH by a nose
I'm wondering about Velvet. I may order a tub of Half and Half too, but I am not sure if I'd like Velvet better than what I'm currently smoking. Was going to pick up a 5 pack of 5 Bros or maybe just get a tub of H and H instead. I've just read mixed reviews on Velvet.

I thiiiiiiink five brothers is a RYO burley disguised as pipe tobacco to save some taxes. Half and half is a cardamom and/or anisette bomb but it's definitely got a following. There is some anise aroma in velvet but I don't get it in the smoke...YMMV. I find that velvet is the least flavored of the 3...velvet, Granger then Carter Hall. I really enjoy OJK white also

I use 5 Bros mostly as a mixer with my codger blends to add some nic and help with the burn. May be very useful with Granger. I am just about out of 5B. I may just wait and get Velvet and H and H another time. Sometimes I smoke 5B straight but not often. It is a throwback to the old dual purpose smoke and chew shags like Honest and Weymans Cutty Pipe, and Penns Best.

I have had a pouch of the old usa Half and Half and hated it because it bit, but last week I tried it and loved it. Not sure what happened. So, I have not had the new Denmark production yet.

I've had OJK regular, good stuff...loaded up a bowl of that just now...it's strong! A bowl in my large Custombilt made me turn green and I haven't had any since....LOL

If you haven't tried the Peretti's blends, do yourself a favor and get some. I have 101, 333, Cuban, BPC, 52 and DD. They are all so unique and wonderful with that *something* that only tobacconists that old can provide.

I actually have! I was gifted some Cuban Mixture by Piping Abe ! It's wonderful stuff. Like a superior Sutliff Walnut match I thought. I've wanted to try some of their burley blends. They're pricier but you get what you pay for.

I’m a big fan of 5Bros for both blending and smoking straight. I like shag cuts in general (all of the GH shags are welcome in my pipe anytime), but I was particularly delighted to snag a pound of the very codger-ish Sutliff 310 Modern English (bulk Edward G. Robinson) when it came up on WVSmokeShop a few months ago.

SWRA and Granger are growing on me as well. My shift to appreciating burley blends is happening, much to my own surprise.

Since the brand hasn't come up yet, I think it's worth mentioning HU blends like Makhuwa and Night Owl. Ok, they are more expensive than the OTC blends, but I've heard Night Owl described as gourmet OJK, and Makhuwa as a similar upgrade from Haunted Bookshop. I enjoyed Makhuwa, but I hadn't had OJK when I tried it and would need more experience with them all to make a real comparison. What do others thinK?
