We all do. Sadly, Mark possesses the entire global supply, and only has room for one name in the SJF subsection of the tobacco cellar section of his will. A tough nut to crack, in other words. Call me a pragmatist, but I just said screw it, and started hoarding Newminster 400 instead.
40 in the past two weeks. Around 55 the past two months.
Nice man! I'm glad you're able to stock up on something you like. I'm still trying to figure out which blend would be that one for me.
My first experience with Sir John's was slightly better than ho hum. Later, a friend gave me a tin. Something clicked and I've pretty much smoked it as my first bowl every single day. I like a lot of blends,it took time for a few to rise up above others.
He’s purchased at least 40. I’m not jealous at all. Don’t even care really. Just…minding my own business and counting the tins he purchases which is totally normal, right?
You might have answered this before, but how long do you age yours (if you do at all) before you crack them?
I prefer to have 2 to 3 years of age on Virginia Flakes, 5 to 6 appears to be optimal. The change after that is fairly minimal compared to the change from fresh to the 5th or 6th year.
Is there an age where you find they go past their optimal state?
I was gifted some fantastic tobacco today, some from the mid 70’s.
I was out buying some coffee and decided to drop in to my local B&M (cigar shop) and they had just gotten a small shipment of Germain’s in so of course I bought a few things.
Everything arrived today.
