Yes. It would suck to learn that they get them from Sutliff and then aren’t going to continue them.Like P&C’s match blends?

This is the part that upsets me the most. A non-American company went in bought an American company with 175yrs of history and completely shut it down and put Americans out of work. Completely no respect for the history and heritage or the workers. The Sutliff facility is comparatively small, older and well suited for during short production runs for the U.S. market. The STG facility in Denmark has extra capacity and well suited for long production runs to serve the needs of pipe smokers in more than 70 countries around the globe. The Mac Baren facility, also in Denmark, is sort of a mix between the STG and Sutliff facilities.
I'm
just to confirm the other side, does 507C absolutely contains perique?
I believe that match blends are done at the Bethlehem, PA warehouse, using STG tobaccos.Yes. It would suck to learn that they get them from Sutliff and then aren’t going to continue them.
Do you feel the same way when an American company buys an overseas company? This is the part that upsets me the most. Sutliff was also doing some incredible blends for content creators that were delicious blends and helped expose pipe smokers to more content and now that’s never going to happen again because STG is too big for it. They also supported Seattle Pipe Club and a number of B&M house blends which are now in limbo. This just highlights how out of touch STG is with the community.
STG is taking a niche industry that was moving even more niche with an increase to boutique small batch blending and is trying to globalize it more and make it more mass produced. The people in charge cannot read the room.
STG seems so obsessed with international sales that they don’t see the damage they’re doing to the American market.
My guess is that when these pipe blends that were made in Richmond are now manufactured offshore and imported back into the US, the import tariffs will be significant. This is the part that upsets me the most. Timing is everything isn’t it! After I just spent way more than I will ever admit to on tins of Elizabethan Mixture. Oh well, it will not be wasted.Good news that the Pete blends are ok for now. With any company we may as well learn that all blends are subject to vanishing. Considering the Pete blends are only avaliable in tins its a bit spendy to try and stock up. Now I can slowly stock up on DNR.

Leonard, the HH line was available in the UK but got delisted about 18 months ago. We never got the full range that they do in the US but we did get Bold Kentucky, Old Dark Fired and Latakia Flake. So the good news is, nothing from either the the STG or Mac Baren portfolios is being delisted in the UK. As far as why Mac Baren never introduced the HH blends in the UK... I don't have any true insight there. Prior to the acquisition, STG actually distributed in the UK on Mac Baren's behalf. Mac Baren would have dictated the portfolio. I can only assume they didn't see much demand.
Have you tried Amphora's Kentucky Blend? Not saying it's the same, but it's close, IMHO.So it sounds like the HH line is on the chopping block, but are all the blends on the block. Nobody makes anything close to the HH ODF in my opinion. Could something like that continue as the same product but just under the standard MacBaren line?
I have and it’s good but I feel is more similar to the Bold Kentucky than ODF. It is delicious and I hope the Amphora line continues. But we don’t know that yet unless I missed it and it was confirmed to be staying. I feel like high volume pouches have a decent chance.Have you tried Amphora's Kentucky Blend? Sutliff hasn’t been American owned for almost 50 years. This is the part that upsets me the most. A non-American company went in bought an American company with 175yrs of history

Just hope people remember that we're incredibly lucky to have resources like this. How often do you even know the names of people involved in production end of your other hobbies? How often do you have this much access to the bendable ears of the people that make anything you consume?Hello everybody!
I read with a lot of interest the thread from Leonardw about STG/Sutliff/MacBaren that as we all know it is going to have an impact on our hobby.
It is honestly a pity that some users expressed their frustration in some uncivil manners and I hope that we can keep the discussion as adults in here as I think that we can all ask questions to @leonardw and see if he is at liberty of answering some.
