I can relate to some extent. Tea I can't stand the stuff in bags but coffee I am going to buy what's on sale and worry about if how well it handles my caffeine addiction. Pipes and cigars? I like more of them then I don't, from blends that get raved about to ones that no one seems to mention outside of punchlines. Wine it's funny I can tell you the differences between them but don't find more pleasure in the fancier ones.As stated by @anotherbob, snobbery isn't that your preference is based on a better quality, it is thinking your preference reflects you choices as a person versus others. I tend to run the other direction as a human being. That is, I tend to favor all things Low Brow. My own blend of tobacco for the last four decades is a mix of Lane BCA and Sutliff Nougat. My go to pipes are an unmarked second and a beat up Paronelli that has seen better days. Cigars...I smoke seconds and lean toward the shop brands. My coffee is Folgers on most days. And when I go shopping for wine, I drive up to Ralphs and find something under $5.OO.
Do I have "fancier" things? Yeh, but I won't tell you about them. It's a little embarrassing and to be honest, I wouldn't want to be defined by those choices. I know my roots and I like where I hail from.
And really though I don't think you should be shy or ashamed of your Beanie Baby collection or the fact that you have so much money sunk into the hobby that you can't buy a nice pipe or buy a too many tins.
