Work, kids and distraction slowed down the production of my first pipe. That and perhaps an overly ambitious inital idea!
After seeing so many awesome pipes that people have turned out I was insipired to put a little more time into my lump of briar. I have simplified things a lot which I think helps and I am pretty happy with the way things are going.
This thing is a monster of a pipe at 7 inches long and 2 and 3/8 inches high. I still need to thin out the stem a little bit more and have only just started sanding so there is plenty to keep me busy. I have done everything by hand with files/ rasps and a coping saw.
I have some good grains that I want to highlight. Would this be best done with a black stain, sanding back and applying a brown stain over top? Or would just a brown stain do? Thanks for your thoughts.
