It sounds like you are doing great, and you are developing a good sense of taste. Smoking slow is the goal with pipes. It is especially a disadvantage for folks that didn't grow up around pipesmokers, but in my youth, you would never be able to see puffs of smoke coming up off of a pipesmoker. Maybe a thin wisp or two. But, the goal is to slowly savor it, and sometimes if you smoke it as if you are hiding the smoke from someone, you will get the hang of smoking your pipe on the verge of it going out. This will give you a more savory flavor, and might stop some of these "off" flavors from getting worked in from pushing it a little too hard. Now, this is all guessing from the evidence you've submitted. You may be the slowest smoker in the world, but I just want to help, and it seems like it might be a factor here.
Sir you are absolutely right! I just had a conversation with a person called “workman” up in the comments, and he explained that the Elizabethan is a sensetive mixture, and I should be puffing it slowly and savor it as well (as you said) and it seemed to fix the problem completely! i had a bad habit of having 3-4 rapid buffs and overwhellming my taste buds with the flavour, and maybe the Elizabethan wasn’t one of those compliant tobacco blends i tried. And sir, I appreciate your advice. I never saw my grandfather, only in pictures. He always had a pipe in those pictures, and he was the hardest working man I ever knew (through family told stories). I will always respect the traditions, and I’m glad that i learned what i was doing wrong. Thank you!
