Hey ed, I already told archy in a PM, I lived in Colchester right next to all of Constable's paintings. We'd paddle down the River Stour in Dedham every weekend and my mom would point out Willie Lot's cottage (The Hay Wain) every single damn time. Had a buddy that moved to East Bergholt. One of the advantages of building houses out of stone; they're all still there. The house I grew up in was 450 years old, and that wasn't considered old. No smokers in British landscape paintings, guess it's hard to smoke a clay churchwarden while you're tilling the fields.
