There's a year in which virtually all smoking is banned from movies. Don't know when that was, nor do I care much.
In 1998 there was a lawsuit against cigarette companies placing smoking and brands in strategic places. the court decided to just remove all smoking from movies, but this was repealed quickly and was never enforced. It lives on in right-wing conspiracy theories.

This thread has hundreds of recent movies and series with pipes in them, from a Star Wars flick to Sweet Tooth.
When I first started smoking a pipe, my wife would get excited and point out the pipes in everything we watched. Now, she may nudge me and ask me what type of pipe I think it is. But, the fanfare has died down. We are desensitized to it now.

Keep in mind,. We don't watch chick flicks or kid movies. The last movie we watched with pipes in it was one of the new Mission Impossible flicks.

The Unexpected Journey hobbit movie has a lot of pipe smoking, supposedly enough to have created demand for churchwardens. It's a good movie if you're not a stickler for accurate portrayal of the book stories.

Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children is another, and the Miss Peregrine character is a very good one performed very well.

I started watching "The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare" today. There was a fellow in that one that had an unlit pipe in his mouth. I saw some smoke in one short clip but it could have been an effect added in afterward. The fellow playing Winston Churchill was awful. I couldn't finish it. There were guys getting shot in the gut with a recurve bow falling over like they'd been switched off.

I saw "Earth Versus the Flying Saucers" made an entry to this thread earlier, so I thought I'd add another 50s sci-fi classic: It Came From Outer Space. It the still below, the lead actor has just lit a pipe with a splint from the fireplace. In another scene, he's in a helicopter and clenches his pipe upside down to prevent the prop wash from blowing out his tobacco. I suspect the actor really was a pipe smoker or they had a very good director. The old comic on the side shows an officer giving orders in a downpour. Notice he's also clenching his pipe upside down. I like that these older movies and comics had elements of realism that would baffle people today.pipes in movies.JPG

Can't find a good pic anywhere online, but we're watching "Fatal Attraction" and Fred Gwynne (most famous for playing Herman Munster) is smoking a pipe, a straight lovat or lumberman or saddle-stemmed Canadian of some kind.

I did look, but trying to find pics, but no matter what you put in the search, 99.9% of the results is him playing Herman Munster, even if you tell Google the results MUST HAVE "fatal attraction" and MUST NOT HAVE "munster", etc.

The only shot I could find:
