Bubba asks,
On a side note, do you guys find it rude to ask how much somebody paid for something?

I don't think it's rude. I'm quite comfortable stating a price because everyone here is familiar with the market,

and knows pretty much why we're willing to spend the amounts we do. However, I don't expect non-pipe smokers to

share our values, so I'll often dodge the question to avoid appearing pretentious. This is also the case if I sense

that the person is considerably less well-off than I am, because I'm not comfortable flaunting the fact that I spent

more for a pipe than he does for a week's groceries.

I really want meerschaum now after seeing those pictures. It also didn't help that the local pipe club had a meerschaum only night and I do not currently own one (besides the crappy one I bought in a lot off ebay which is not restored) so I was unable to go. I am done spending money on the hobby for a while as I am trying to save my money at the moment.

Thank you :). I, or rather my wife, bought it on ebay as a gift. I'm not sure how much it was but I suspect around 100$. It smokes really well and sits in my hand nicely.
Everyone needs a few meers in their collection ;).

Here's pic of two more pipes with lady Holiday: A Stanwell second Black Blasted Apple and a Falcon with a Dover bowl.
P1010017.jpg

The Stanwell second is a cake monster. It built a cake like no other pipe I own and that of course makes it smoke well.
I wanted a Falcon and found one at a local B&M this past summer for a great price and have really enjoyed it. I ordered two more bowls for it (specific bowls for tobacco types) but the bowl pictured is for latakias.

Two interesting clay pipes I got just because of the history of pipe smoking (and I was also curious about how they smoke):

This one is quite small:

Here is a close-up of the larger one (the scottish thistle). I call it the Loch Ness monster pipe:

...and here we have the monster scaring a fisherman:

I tried the monster pipe yesterday and it smokes really well. I guess the properties of clay is such that it sucks away the moisture. I couldn't taste any pipe at all, just the tobacco. I also now understand why people in old paintings hold their pipes like this:

The bowl gets really hot.

I saw that, drooled on my keyboard...checked my savings account and bought one.
Dang it!

Hehe :D. I've recently preferred smoking it with the short stem since it smokes really cool anyway.

PAD struck again:
This is a Royal Danish pipe (a Stanwell second, although I couldn't find anything that would make it a "second"):

I also wanted to try a higher-grade Savinelli and the poker shape:

Here is a close-up of the grain (how did they get such a glossy polish on it?):

And, as some of you may know, I love Stanwells. This is a danish made flamegrain pipe (with the Savinelli poker in the background):

And some flames:

All three of them are excellent smokers.

Great pipes Juni! Thanks for the pix -- much appreciated.

I think the wax gets glossier as a result of increasingly fine sanding of the wood.
