It's ok if they can drive. The trouble starts when...

I was watching a thing where someone took their car to the mechanic, every time they put it in Drive and set off, the engine stalled. Turned out, the D was actually O on a manual gearshift, i.e. 5th or Overdrive. This person should not reverse into a parking space.
Still not ok to me. They usually drive the wrong way up a parking aisle so they can back into slanted parking, clogging up the lane/traffic, and making everyone wait for them to finish before they can move. Usually right past a giant yellow arrow pointing traffic in the opposite direction. And for what? It saves ZERO time. We are forced to back into parking spots in the military and I know a lot of the local rednecks in my area do it because of that. I mean, actually serving in the military isn't NEAR as patriotic as wearing flag t-shirts, putting gun stickers on your truck, and parking like you served...

Proper way to park. Makes driving away safer.
How is it proper when you have to drive the wrong way up an aisle to even park in the slanted spots? The aisles are clearly marked for traffic in a single direction and people go the wrong way, driving head on towards the ones driving the correct way, and then hold up everyone so they can back in. It's ridiculous.

Why do you have to drive the wrong way? A car's turning radius will allow for parking if you pull far enough past the desired parking space.

The drivers who annoy you are going to annoy you whichever direction they park, I don't think its about a single habit, but more of an overarching lack of ability/social awareness that leads to them creating problems for everyone they share the space with.

Thank God for pipe smokers who are; by default, perfect humans.

I recall being parked curbside with at least two full car lengths open in front of me. While I was filling out paperwork about the service call, I had just finished, a lady tried three times to pull into the spaces in front of me. She then drove off somewhere out of sight and walked back to berate me for not getting out of her way.

Well, when someone drives completely past a parking spot to attempt a 170 degree turn in reverse, any car behind them will assume they didn’t want the spot and will pull in. That’s ignoring the fact it will hold up traffic even longer—and that I’ve, literally, never seen someone do such a thing.

Okay, you just want an argument thread and I'll not oblige. Good day.

I think my main gripe here is that traffic is held up simply for the illusion of saving time. It only appears that way, because to save time on the departure end requires taking it from the arrival end, and that wastes everyone else's time to do that conversion!

The fact that so few of these people are coordinated enough to actually do it expediently and considerately just takes an already irritating experience (i.e. living around all these blobs of protoplasm with a room temperature IQ) and compounds it.

Listen Einstein--just pull in to the spot like a normal person, and stop wasting my time! Thank you! Rant over. Errr...make that adjourned. I know myself... 😁

Agree 100%. Also, people are cool with waiting for you to back OUT of a spot because then they get it. Waiting for them to back in just holds you up for nothing.

@Servant King you really started something with this backward parking 💩. 🤣☕
I know, right? Like, I couldn't just talk about how shocked I was to get tongue bite from a wet aromatic, or ask what the best English blend is like a normal person...I just had to start with the stream of consciousness crap again, didn't I?!? :ROFLMAO:

Edit: on the plus side, this is the most action any of my own threads have gotten in several years, since I started that thread about Brittany Griner being a man. Perhaps I'm returning to my old form. Which should result in the resignation of at least three moderators here.

2nd edit: Wait, I never actually started that thread. Hold that thought...I can only do so much at once here!

It's been done before.

It would appear I'm contributing to the thread redundancy problem on this forum... *hangs head in shame*

It would appear I'm also contributing to the post redundancy problem on this forum... *hangs head in shame again*

Depends on your skills. I was a semi driver, only do it in straight lots, never leave room for cars behind you to get in the way, use my 4-ways, and do it quickly in one try. Some people should not try it without practice.Electric mirrors tilted at the stripes, easy as pie

If the parking is perpendicular to the curb line the through lane should be wide enough for two vehicles, and the maneuver to back shouldn’t take longer than pulling in, unless there’s some ahole right on your ass.
If one is backing into parking that’s angled off the curb line, and they’re angled for one way through traffic, you’re a douche and going the wrong way in a one way flow both entering and exiting.
If angled but lane is two-way, see the above for perpendicular parking.
Parallel parking is an “all bets are off” situation in today’s world-people either can or cannot do it, and the latter shouldn’t practice in public.

If you get involved in a conversation about this topic to the extent that you write all the crap I just did, you should put your phone down and go find something else that you probably should be getting done rather than practicing the mental masturbation that @Servant King craftily, and most likely with malicious forethought drew us into.
