Dan is absolutely correct MLC did have a bad day and didn't put the lens cap cover back on his inner monologue which resulted him blowing up on three different forums including one John and I were moderators on.
Getting banned on three different forums in 24 hours has be to some kind of a record.
Pretty sure he didn't post here often enough to be a "forum character", but I have gone through all of neverbend's contributions.
I believe I got introduced to "neverbend" through Jon Guss. We had a very lively and rewarding correspondence for about a year and I learned an enormous amount from him on the history, business and the process of manufacturing pipes. I was happy to see him posting here, and he largely enjoyed posting here. There were a few "experts" here who contradicted him on points, not knowing who he was or that he had a direct hand in creating what they were claiming to be "expert" about. That was pretty funny. But that's also part of a forum.
We're very luck to have Ken Barnes posting here. He's an enormous resource and one hell of a nice guy.
I'm still trying to figure out who Starcat is/were.
Aren't we all?
She had made a post eluding to Peterson pipes being overrated, and we had a forum meltdown. Her post was so obscure that it all depended on what order you put the words, whether you thought she was saying the Petes were overrated or weren't.
As a recall, fnord knew her/him/it and said he/she/it was highly embarrassed by what had taken place, but I could be misremembering.
I hadn't heard the part about her/him/it being drunk when posting, but it would certainly make sense.
And yes, the thread did begin with one of Starcat's hyperbolic ramblings on the quality of Petes.
But, I try to drop in occasionally, if not to just make sure that Sable isn't causing any problems, ha ha.
Moi, make trouble? You say that because, after initially attempting to get a lucid answer from Starcat on that thread, I went all screwy myself for the fun of it, in the process pushing that thread in direction that a lot of others seized upon. I never saw that coming. The Starcat thread just gained a life of it's own for the next week. I didn't read it constantly, but I don't recall any serious clashes except over whether chili is a stew or a soup, or the metaphysical nature of a sandwich. I remember contributing Bambi Meets Godzilla and Kate Upton rolling around in zero gravity. It may have been a meltdown, but it was a curative one.
Between the Thanksgiving Massacre and the Starcat thread, the forum was very subdued, like people were afraid to post anything more controversial than a recipe for chicken soup.
I suspect that if I looked at that thread today, I'd be bored to hell by some of it and hilariously entertained by some of it. The context is gone.
Forums are a changing scene.
