Careful, brother. You don't want to be accused of denying someone access to a Bo. It would make you a lesser person and cheapen the forum!

I remember a time when Stonehaven would just sit on our shelves. Most of the tobacco that sold was Penzance, Brighton and Margate. Had a customer whose work took him all over the world and he would go through 3-4 pounds of Penzance a month. No saving for later, he smoked all he got. Of course, then it was no issue to just order more from Butera, who was the distributor back then. We actually sold more McClelland than Esoterica back in the day.

Not ten years ago, at a local B&M, it was the same. All of the bags sold for around $20, and they collected dust. I would get my occasional bag of Pembroke, and knock the dust off of it. What happened?

Well, as Mr. John Germain famously said (and I edit for length):

We manufacture our tobacco to be enjoyed at acquisition.

From our point of view, why would you want to faff around with our product?

Please do not be a "cellarer" unless you are willing to admit that you think

that you can do better.
And as for us who are faffing about not getting any Esoterica:

Hey Michael! Hope all is well up there. Unfortunately, I started smoking after this magical time you describe had passed. So for me, the acquisition of certain blends of Esoterica are directly tied to my earliest foundations of cellaring philosophy.
It doesn't hurt that I really enjoy Penzance, Margate, And So To Bed, and Stonehaven.
Of course those who lived through the feast years and those who don't like the blends will have completely different perceptions.

Didn't mean to instigate a poo storm.
I often advocate my brand of "window shopping", which is to fill my cart with hundreds or thousands of dollars worth of crap-i-dont-need and then delete it after staring triumphantly at it for a minute. Certainly not intended as any type of selfish or denial of service maneuver. Just a broke ass fellow having some fun.
Cricket, if you feel badly, you can go sit in the corner for a moment with the guy who has a rash on his parts until you feel better! :nana:
Mrenglish, anyone who can smoke 3-4 pounds of anything in a month deserves all of it they can carry! 8O

Every Esoterica thread creates a bit of sturm und drang. It comes with the territory.
If you're waiting for one of the large on line stores to get it in, you're not likely to get any. If you want to find it, start using the phone and calling B&M's. There's plenty out there for those willing to make the effort and now is the time to be making that effort. That's how I built up my stash over the years.
Pre 2006 there wasn't the insanity about Penzance or the Esoterica line that currently exists. But Germain's regular shipments became quite irregular and the panic and hoarding took off and have never stopped.
I quite like some of the Esoterica blends, and others are either meh, or disagreeable to me. None of them are worth the eBay prices to me. YMMV.

The stars aligned for me, and I got a couple bags and 4 tins at my local B&M today. No Penzance, but that's ok, as I don't really love it. But Margate, Tilbury, and Blackpool are back in my cellar, along with the Stonehaven, Dunbar, and And So to Bed that I already had. It was a good day.

What I know from the On-Line stores...IRC since March sent me 5 Email alerts for Esoterica. Yesterday was 8oz Margate. As I said...P&C was yesterday for there shipment. TP, Mars, and The Country Squire had there shipment this month.

I check daily 7 others and we know the other Big On-Line shop (still waiting for that 1).

Yeah, once it drops, there seems to be some predictability to it.
