First I don't buy from pc I hate the way there site works. Two I hate to burst your bubble but just because you clicked it to your cart and closed your tab didn't take it from the sites inventory. The only time it is taken from being able to be sold is when it's sold.So I'm afraid to tell you someone else got your slew of tobacco. And this is just my thoughts but instead of boasting about the slew you thought you took off the shelf without the means to purchase this thus taking away from an actual buyer who has money. If you would have actually bought 1 or 2 and left some for your fellow pipe smoker you would have gotten some actual tins instead of only being able to have them in that online shopping cart and when you refresh the site they will be gone to.I find two things amazing 1)How this brand makes a usually cheerful giving group of people so selfish and greedy 2)How fast Chicken salad turns to chicken shit. How about that instant karma.

It's the same as scoring a bottle of Pappy Van Winkle....Being a Collector/Hoarder of the good stuff...7 yrs ago you could have gone to a liquor store and buy 10/12/15/20yr of Pappy with no issues(and buy the case) Thank You very much. Now you have "Truck Chasers" and In-Store lotteries. Maybe someone else can explain the "Germain Effect"?
That being said....PC has shipped out my order...Get this today.

If you would have actually bought 1 or 2 and left some for your fellow pipe smoker
From what I could tell, they only got in 5-10 bags of each blend, not sure about the tins. I buy to smoke and cellar, never to resell. I've actually given away more Penzance than I've smoked, as I only see it's worth as a blender, and find it too bland on its own. If I go to the store for toilet paper, and they only have one left, I don't think, "Some one else might need that." If something is there to be purchased, it gets purchased. Tobacco prices are only going to continue to rise, and if the WHO continues on its crusade, tobacco will only be harder to find in coming years. At that point, my cellar will be there when prices are beyond my ability to pay.

Think how ever you want.Comparing it to toilet paper is truly like apples and golf balls. Its amazing how excited and lucky people post they are to get such a bland blending tobacco. And as for something being there and purchasing all of it my thoughts are thank goodness I'm lucky enough to buy the majority of it,but I always leave one or a couple ounces.I like think of the guy that just found something just come and as he is looking everything is out.Crushed missed it again. Then boom that one tin.Thats how I share with people I don't even know.I know I've been happy finding that one tin

But hey this is america do what you want how you want.Thats justy opinion on the subject. On a side note could whoever that put the tobacco in there cart were they able to go back and buy it after it went out of stock on line.If so I'm sorry fellas but I'm gonna go a put all the best brown#4 in my cart(except a few ounces and tins)so it will be there as I need to buy it.

Leaving it in your cart doesn't make it safe, and seeing as how you didn't read my entire post, I do give tobacco freely and don't scalp it. As for the toilet paper metaphor, it is exactly the same. A product to be consumed. If you are that upset about not getting any Esotericas, pick up a phone and call B&Ms. More likely to find them, and much less expensive.

Who thought that clicking items to their cart takes it out of inventory? No one, because that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard of. =D

Maybe someone else can explain the "Germain Effect"?
The Germain Effect is a subset of the Psychopathy Of Scarcity.
As defined with the population of pipe smokers, it is the belief that if something is scarce, it must be amazingly great, and therefore worth hunting down at all costs. Then, the quarry found, it is necessary to buy up as much of it as one can because one never knows if or when one will get another chance. Once you have obtained unobtainium you can then beat your breast and crow to all and sundry that you are possessor of "my precious" and extoll its virtues to the poor sots who are bereft of unobtainium. This in turn drives the sots mad with the desire to obtain unobtainium for themselves so that they can become successful human beings. All of this is, of course, based on nonsensical assumptions, but what is more powerful than nonsensical assumptions?
The scarcity problem is certainly exacerbated by the extreme nut job hoarders, people with hundreds of pounds of tobacco and scant years to live, who are still suctioning up all that they can find.
Germain's is a 200 year old small boutique blender, staffed by 6 or 7 doddering pensioners who, when not napping, occasionally make blends on ancient machinery, making blends in the great British tradition. They take on a lot more projects than they can supply on a regular basis.

Great post Jesse, thanks for the laughs.
What amazes me is the demand for Esoterica's lesser blends(anything not Stonehaven or Penzance). For years they were thought to be average to below average and they would sit on the shelves for years. Now it doesn't matter what the blend is, as long as it says Esoterica people will flock to it like a pig does to slop. They buy it without ever trying it and when they do eventually try it, they will ask themselves why they ever bothered chasing the stuff.

Last summer, a young man on Facebook posted a selfie taken at a jobs fair in the UK. He was standing in front of a booth with a very professional banner that read J.F. Germain & Son. No word that I saw on whether he got the job.

i was just wondering about the cart stuff because it's never happen to me so when the guy said he put in his cart and said scored the tobacco and saved the dough I was thinking how's that fair.Thats why I wrote what I did. Also I see what I mentioned about leaving some tobacco for the next was not commented on at all.I think what the guy said about it being scarce makes people want to boast about how much they were able to obtain when it is available. And as for being upset over not getting a certain type of tobacco, that never occurred to Nextme. There is so much more in this world to be upset about that tobacco doesn't rank, but I would have to be upset anyway because when my uncle who helped me start the pipe found out a few months later because of his health that he would eventually have to put his beloved briars down he didn't wait.He used the band aid method and passed to me a few of there blends.I haven't tried any yet but it can't be better than 1792 flake. And any tobacco that can make grown men run to their laptop all flushed like young girls at a back street boy concert and get people upset and defensive if you suggest not buying the max quantity allowed.Next thing I know everyone seems upset and is talking about buying toilet paper. So maybe I should have been more direct and said this. There was a 2 guys talking about putting the tobacco in the carts then closing the tabs saying they were glad that they had the tobacco so they could finish the transaction later. One guy boasted to have the tobacco and his cash so I took that as he thought when it was in his cart it was taken off the sites inventory.I joked I was going to do the same thing.Notice I said joking. The truth is it got me a little mad because I just read were one guy was at work and one had Internet problems beyond his control and one just asking about getting one tin and im sure these guys had the intent to actually buy the tobacco. On top of that he said that he clicked on bags to put in his cart just because he could not because he likes them or even wants to try them.I guess what my short story boils down to I got a little mad when read someone bragging about tricking hard working people out of a fair shot of getting a blend they like and then say they got it because it was there. That started the next fire storm.I found that some people get turned up if you suggest not buying the max amount allowed or leaving a tin or ounce if you have already purchased the majority. So in closing it is my practice to buy 5 if only 6 are left and so on.I don't buy max limits.I try to let the next guy to get a taste also.I know there are people who do the opposite.Im not upset with them.Guys are mad

at hoarders for doing it and Hoarders are mad the same guys for not hoarding and of you mention your own opinion woooooo it gets hot in here.I think I'm going back to the cigar, but only after making a video of opening and pouring some tins and bags of esoterica.Use some for potting soil.Use one to see if it will kill an ant bed.Maybe it will make a better smelling cat litter. Then I can tell people that pipe smokers smoke and cover and trick and pay extremely large amounts of money for tobacco I use for cat litter.

Well for me, to have actually seen Esoterica available and able to be added to a cart of any kind was my point. Closing it out was because I was poor, not attempting to deny anyone tobacco.
The site doesn't hold tobacco at all, btw. By the time I was closing it out, most of the selections had gone from available to 'not available.'
So to anyone who took exception to the process, particularly if they don't frequent the site in question and are completely ignorant to the processes on that site, boo hoo.

I don't think the reason for adding it to the cart was to keep someone else from buying the tins. I blew my June TAD budget on FVF, and it's not the first time something becomes available days after I've already placed an order. I understand the feeling of seeing something you really like or want become available and not being able to purchase it then. I think the "scoring" Jay referred to was merely the hollow victory of just being able to press "Add to Cart". Esoterica is Out Of Stock 362 days of the year, so let people have their fun.

It won't. I've had tobacco and pipes disappear from my cart because someone else bought them while I was shopping.

Well that is my point exactly. Let people, in this case me, have their fun by adding to the cart.
When people talk about equity and being mad then it isn't about fun any more.

There's a Bo Nordh pipe out there for $14,000 that's fun to see in my cart from time to time.
