I knew when I woke up that I'd be throwing all the monies at Amazon in a mad Black Friday dash. I wanted to crack open something special to smoke whilst I perused the wares.

2023 Salty Dogs, released through DTM but produced by the now-abhorred (undeservedly so, if you ask me) STG. Sliced with a baby Mora before being torn up and stuffed into a big ass Kaywoodie.

Mora are the best value in blades, bar none!

Almost frustratingly so. I carve pipes with them too and I have experimented outside of that brand, but nothing seems to really match the quality as far as wood carving goes. Plus, the angles make Moras very easy to sharpen on whetstones.

Example: carved with Morakniv blades and honed in with Japanese chisels, and the first of my pipes to sell at the Vegas show...

Not too sure how I feel about these. I cracked the 1st tin of Spark Plug from 2020 and saw some possible plume? But my concern is that it has a musty odor to the tin. I cracked the 2nd from 2021 and I found "plume" again and again with a musty odor. You guys have any thoughts? Or anyone have the same musty smell with older Spark Plug? It doesn't appear fuzzy, looks more like white-ish crystals, which normally, I wouldn't think twice. But it's the musty smell that has me concerned.

I dunno man, that doesn't look great. If it were me, and I really wanted it, I'd set it aside for a bit and see if whatever that stuff is grows
How long might you wait or expect it to grow if it were mold? Couple of weeks? If it pretty much stays the same, then maybe it'll be ok to use? I would think mold would spread fairly quickly once exposed to the fresh air...anyone have any thoughts on that?

I mean, I don't want to chuck it if it's still good. Worst case scenario, I could prob just email smoking pipes and maybe get replacements.

Ah, I can't really say. But your reasoning (couple weeks) seems good.

I don't really smoke Lat, but have a few tins and decided I'd smoke through 1 per year. I opened some Gaslight from '20 and it smelled like Bleu cheese, among other things. *no suspicious crystals/growth of any kind

This slightly concerned me so I chopped it up and let it sit for a few weeks and nothing happened. I smoked it and it's pretty good
