The only Grand Oriental I hadn't tried yet. Always looked forward to the single whole leaf on top - finally!
Smells pretty good too..

That looks great. I think they were inspired by the old State Express London Mixture which had a whole oriental leaf laid across the top like that. I have an old empty tin that still has the leaf in it. Cheers.

As I was inordinately jealous of all of you who got to enjoy the Chicago show, and as I was passing close to where he lives, @simong and I met up to open some interesting tins, as well as looking at some pipes, catalogues and other bits and pieces (and, of course, have some beers).WhatsApp Image 2024-04-21 at 20.25.23 (1).jpegWhatsApp Image 2024-04-21 at 20.25.23.jpeg

An Irish tin of Peterson's Irish Oak:

Last but not least, a tin I had my doubts about - Fryer's Special Smokynge Mixture. Fortunately the inside of the tin was spotless!

I even couldn't resist having a roll-up of it:

A great day out with some great pubs, and great beers, some fantastic smokes and most importantly excellent company!

Drucquer&Sons Levant, my favorite Drucquer blend and one of the best Pease blends. This one is spicy and sweet-a kaleidescope of flavors.
Very intrigued by this photo of Levant Mixture. I've never had it but I spot a lot of nice Oriental in that mix so it makes me want to try it as I like Oriental forward Balkans. Have to add it to my next order.

Man, I must be trippin. I could have sworn they had a cav center. I was so sure that I looked in my 2 year old jar and, sure as shit, no cav center.
I even googled it and most pics show no cav center but then some do.
