Well, thank you for the introduction to work I was wholly unfamiliar with- as with my favorite Alfred Kubin- it seems books about him are mostly out of print or wildly expensive--- disturbingly- (and not much disturbs me) > fascinating stuff !

I agree with you and Ben Rapaport- there was a "Golden Age" of Meerschaum pipe creation from which this example obviously came. But I applaud modern carvers attempting to resurrect a dying art form for a MUCH reduced audience... Some, like S. Yanik, obviously revere and attempt to emulate their artistic predecessors. Who knows? Maybe they jump start a Renaissance of creation over there in Turkey, or that is where a dying art goes to die.
