I was born there yes. And grew up about 16 miles inland from the City.

Absolutely love Aberdeen. I’ll be there in June. One of my favorite places on earth. Actually played Royal Aberdeen shortly after the Scottish Open in 2014. Been to most of the distilleries around there, been to “The Eye Doctor,” and several Dolphins. The Whisky Shop is a personal favorite.

“We’ll be coming! We’ll be coming! We’ll be coming...down...the road! When you hear that noise of the tartan army boys, we’ll be coming down the road!!”

No i do not. I think I've seen them around though. Might pick one up, thanks for the idea.

Highly recommended. Maybe check eBay, too. Apparently people have modded them with like thousands of games and they’re way better for the same price. I don’t know shit about the ones on eBay because mine came with super Mario, street fighter, and donkey Kong country, so my eyes no longer wander.

it’s a beautiful city for sure. I live further south now as it suits my work but up there a fair bit to visit family who are still there. Got a cottage booked in the hills in May

Royal Aberdeen is a lovely course. You played the Trump one at the Menie Estate? It’s apparently very good.

You must be involved in oil in some way then?

Was. Changing directions with the career, now. Didn’t play the Trump Course. Had a tee time at Carnoustie and then the train had an issue out of city centre and I missed it.

Coming back to play The Old Course @ St. Andrews and Carnoustie in June.

Gonna sneak up to Aberdeen to play Craibstone with some pals there in town.

I’m itching for a pint of Tennent’s and a fish supper.

Craibstone is decent too. I’m a big golf fanatic. Carnoustie is tough! Never had the pleasure of St Andrews Old Course yet. Maybe one day. Sounds like it’ll be a fun trip.

not going for the haggis or black pudding supper?

Love haggis and black pudding. Truthfully I miss the Dolphin’s white pudding about as much as anything else. The one there in city centre just on the road with the eye doctor and the Holiday inn is one of my top 5 places to eat on the planet.

Does Craibstone still have those strange saucer dining pod things??

Is it like a handheld, or a console? Does it play cartridges as well?

It’s a miniature version of the old one. Has controllers and everything. Except, the controllers plug into the console with HDMI connections and there are no cartridges. Unsurprisingly, they were able to fit all of the games on internal memory/storage, so there’s a Home screen from which you choose which game you want to play. The whole thing is smaller than a box of pop tarts.

Cool. The internal storage presents the opportunity for modding, i think, similar to the Wii. Will have to look into it

Let me know what you find out. With as much fun as we’ve had with this one, I’d definitely consider buying one with 50x the games.

They also have NES and SEGA.
Honestly it would more than likely be doable yourself if you wanted to. All you would need to do is plug the memory card in to your computer and put whatever files on it. Maybe a few more steps than that, but probably not too hard. Could you find a link to one like you have?

I’m not sure about the pods. It’s been a good while since I was there. Only played there once.

You’re making me want a chippy and it’s on 8am. ?

I want a chippy like 22/24 hours in the day. My friends in Aberdeen laugh when I tell them how badly I miss the Dolphin.

Haddock supper, two white puddings, extra vinegar, two Irn-Brus. Come what may.

Hell, I can’t find one, now. Mine has like 30-40 games. The only ones I can find online now have 600+ games. I just saw it on a shelf when I was forced into a Target one day, refusing to leave defeated, I bought it.

I found one on the Nintendo website for 80 dollars and comes with 21 games, 2 wired controllers, and also plays cartridges. I keep forgetting i have a Switch Lite that my buddy sent me for my birthday last summer. I bet i can get SNES games on that, too.
