I didn't watch all the videos posted, but the original post looks like it is strongly influenced by Broadway, ebullient music and some impressive dance productions. The singing is either well dubbed or superbly mic'ed. Some folks from other cultures, attending Broadway shows, are much impressed by the simultaneous song and dance that we all take as standard. If that was the worst that happened to 80's kids, they'll do okay. By that time, I was sweating property tax, car payments, and the ever-elusive promotion.

It's true. Even if it's not my favorite form of entertainment, Broadway musicals are pretty incredible displays of talent. And in each of those children's TV clips, you have some earnest people doing their best. It may not have been exactly what they had in mind when they decided they wanted to be actors, but by God, they were going to make the most of their opportunity!

Nope. I grew up with Benny Hill and Monty Python. I still think PBS was cool, after 9 PM that is.

I loved zoobilee zoo when I was a kid. Don't remember much about it except the weird inbred bestiality people. ?
I was born in 86 so I guess I only remember watching re-runs.
All time favorite weird kids show was this one.

There is nothing wrong with the little ones born in the 1980's. To compare appropriately, , one would need to compare how we older folks would have fared relative to todays younger folks.

I was born in 1980 to intellectual, somewhat counter-culture parents. We didn’t have a TV in the house until I was in middle school, and even then it was in the basement. I grew up reading books, using my imagination instead of being spoon fed my entertainment, and I don’t feel like I missed out on a thing!
