Hello everyone. I have been smoking a pipe for about 6 years now. Mostly a Virginias connoisseur but will mix it up now and then. I reside in the great state of TN. Looking forward to many conversations with you all!

From South Carolina. The nearest pipe shop is about 2 hours away. I like Disney, Star Wars, bourbon and long walks on the beach. Just kidding, I hate the beach.

Hi all,
New member here, from Alabaster, Alabama. I've got lots to learn about this...what? Hobby? Pastime? Addiction? Maybe all three. I started a few months ago with MM cobs, got a couple of 'basket pipes' at The Briary (which is not too far from Alabaster) and just loaded up with Stanwell's - six of them, thanks to the sale. That should keep me occupied for a while. Also enjoying trying different tobaccos.
In other news, I'm a retired computer programmer, blues and rock pianist and happily married to the most tolerant woman in Alabama. I'm looking forward to learning a lot from the experts here.

Hello everyone,

New to this forum. I think it's always nice to know how old members are. You get a better sense of where they are coming from if you know their age. I'm 60 years old. My love of pipes and tobacco started a while ago....... I smoked my first pipe (a large Turkish meer) in 1982. It was part of a 15 pipe collection my father-in-law left after passing away suddenly. No one wanted the pipes so I took them just as something to remember him by. I had never smoked a pipe. I got curious and started asking a lot of questions at pipe stores and later on pipe forums. Who knew it would lead to a nice collection of pipes and a great hobby. My father-in-law would be happy that those pipes didn't end going to waste.

I've been away from pipe smoking because I ended up with a parrot that flew into my kitchen 15 years ago (a wild and weird story) and didn't leave until a couple of months ago when he went to parrot heaven. Smoke of any kind (even from a non-stick pan) and parrots equals a horrible and slow death for the parrot and I refuse to be one of those smokers that can only smoke outside plus since I work from home, the parrot was with me outside most of the time. So I decided to give up smoking and enjoy this parrot. I am now back into my pipes. Just purchased a couple of new Ser Jacopo, a Peterson and a Stanwell and some Hamborg Veermaster to celebrate my comeback.

I look forward to learning and participating on this forum.

Hello everyone! I just realized I should have posted here first. I've been on this forum for a month or two and I love reading all the great posts here. It really helps to have a forum like this. I am a lady pipe smoker and enjoy it a great deal. I laughed when I read the thread about the men who've been 'banished' outside to smoke; it's the same in my house, only I'm the one sitting outside smoking while my (non-smoking) beau is comfy inside. Last night I 'snuck' a bowl in my bathroom and it was noted right away, but he said it 'doesn't smell bad' so that is good. Right now I own a small collection of pipes but my Neerups are becoming my favorites. I have 3. I am sampling tobaccos & right now Nightcap and 7 Seas Regular are my favorites and Father Dempsey. I'm hoping to explore more English tobaccos but don't know where to begin, so I'm heading out to find a thread about them. Howdy, everyone!

Welcome. All. Thanks for the intros, and there's no "should" about posting. It's all good. Post away anywhere, don't fret about topic, as our diligent mods will move the thread if it's in the wrong area.
It's always nice to know approximately where y'all live. I am on the Monterey Peninsula in N. California- our first freeze last night!

Hi again! I'm in North Mississippi, right below my home state of Tennessee. We need a pipe smoker's club around here, one that preferably welcomed pipe-smoking ladies. ;)

Good morning from Arizona. I've been smoking pipes on and off for more than a few years now and am looking to become more involved and see what's happening in the pipe smoking community in my state of Arizona as well as around the world.

I just recently became aware that this online pipe community even existed and am looking forward to spending some time here.
Some of my other interests are Firearms, Reading and book collecting and Cigars.

Great to see you all here! In addition to learning more about pipes and tobacco, and hopefully contributing some help here and there on the forum, I have recently re-taken up the game of golf, in part because now I live on a goof course! (sp noted)....

Welcome to all, hope everyone enjoys their stay here!
msjones: My wife and both smoke pipes and live a little south of you outside of Grenada. If you're coming this way message us and we'll visit.
Also, if you ever get to Jackson, be sure to stop by the Country Squire, one of the best pipe shops around. Jon David the owner is one of the best and he has a great knowledge of pipes and tobacco.

New to the club...guess I made it in just under the wire for new members in 2017.
Long time pipe smoker, but never discovered this or other pipe smoking forums until recently. I suppose I thought I was somewhat alone in the world with regard to appreciating fine tobacco and pipes. Glad to learn there are others out there.
I'm a Southern California Native, currently displaced in Southeast Georgia (the state) due to my military assignment. I'm a Navy Officer who's been on active duty for the last 25 years; with any luck, I'll complete another 6 years or so, then retire...can't wait.
Cheers,

Jim (a.k.a., the Dogfather)

I don't think I ever introduced myself. I've read a lot on this forum on and off and made a post or two so I think introductions are in order.
I live in Greensboro, NC where I'm a paramedic shift commander. I got my first pipe about 20 years ago (before cigars got to be such a big deal) and I still have some of the first batch of pipe tobacco I bought with it. I probably know a tiny bit more than I did 20 years ago. The pipe took a sideline to cigars for my smoking pleasure until cigars got to be too expensive and too cool for my wallet.
Over the last few years I have dabbled more in pipes and pipe tobacco but I know just enough to smoke a wet bowl and get a nice case of tongue bite. Recently my father gave me a couple of his dilapidated Meershaum pipes. So I'm getting back into the hobby slowly but surely, a little older and wiser. I have a couple of no name pipes, a couple of Petersons, and a Savinelli (the Meers are being repaired at Briarville). I really don't have a favorite tobacco yet because I'm not quite sure I am enjoying them to their full potential.
So, I'll just continue to hang out here and see what I can learn along the way..... Cheers!

<p>Hello everybody! I am afraid I sort of blundered in here so I hope you will welcome another introduction. I am absolutely positively brand new to pipe smoking.... or smoking anything for that matter. However, I am finding the need for a soothing ritual that does not involve food

Hello Orley & wife, sorry for the delay in replying but we have been in full holiday mode. I hope you & everyone here are having an enjoyable Christmas/Holiday season. Thank you for the welcome & tip about the Country Squire. I'll be sure to stop in if I'm ever down in Jackson & will give you a shout if I find myself heading near to Grenada, thank you. Does your wife ever visit the forums here? Glad to know of at least one other female who enjoys the pipe.
Hello to all the other newbies!
