Hi

I am from the UK and today should be my first day of switching from cigarettes to pipe, just waiting for tobacco and my first pipes to be delivered. I know it's going to be hard switching but i am determined to do it, i actually roll my own and have smoked for roughly 40 years. I tried e-cigs but they just didn't fit so hoping this time to finally break the habit. My name is Tim but most people i know call me Wiz, i will be searching for help on quitting cigarettes so probably a great deal of questions will be asked. Looking forward to meeting some of you and thanks for allowing me to join.

PacNW USA
Hello everyone. I'm from the Pacific NW corner of the USA. I'm new to pipes, tried the first one a little over 2 years ago. Like so many others, it was a MM cob with a pouch of Carter Hall.

I'm a long time cigar smoker but had to give them up for more than a decade due to sinus and allergy problems. Thankfully, I no longer have those issues and was able to enjoy cigars again. The only problem was that I didn't have any cigars that had been rested long enough in my humidor. So, one of my motivations for trying the pipe was to have something to smoke while my cigars were resting. - My second motivation was to have a winter smoke. I only smoke cigars outdoors at home & there are no smoking lounges within 150 miles. With the proper choice of blends, I can smoke a pipe indoors and get compliments rather than complaints from other family members. And on those very cold winter days, I much prefer a pipe to cigar.

I took up the pipe for the reasons mentioned. I do enjoy both pipes and cigars. But if I had to choose just one now, it definitely would be the pipe.
As a relative newcomer, I'm still trying various things. I have numerous briars, cobs, and clay pipes. I've got a lower end meer that was kindly gifted to me, but would like to upgrade some time. Some of my current favorite blends include HH ODF, FVF, BCA, & Frog M Cellar. Now I'm exploring stronger blends that could make a quick walk of the dog in very cold winter weather more pleasant.

I'm a member of another major active pipe forum, and a long time pipesmoker mentioned that he is a member here. So I thought I'd join. I look forward to learning from others & sharing our pipe adventures & follies. - Mac

Already you know one thing about me -- I don't follow directions very well as evidenced by the fact that I posted my new member introduction in the general thread instead of here. So, this is my second introduction. I'll make up for my transgression by telling a Thanksgiving joke:
A lady walks into the store to buy the biggest turkey she can find. After spending nearly 20 minutes pulling out each and every turkey to read the weight sticker she turns, exhausted, to the butcher and asks, "Do these get any bigger?" "No Ma'am," the butcher replies, "they're already dead."
Okay, I am a long time cigar smoker making a transition to pipes. Right now I am smoking Frog Morton Cellar out of a corncob pipe while I decide what pipe to buy. I live in the northwest corner of the country but have travel pretty extensively across the US.

Hi everyone,
My name is Arthur and I've been smoking a pipe for about a year. My first pipe was a Nording freehand, which I've smoked a handful of times. I generally stick to my ever growing cob collection. I hope I can learn a bit and share some laughs with the community.

Just signed up myself. New to the whole pipe thing, having a blast figuring it all out. Looking forward to learning more about it all, so "no question is a dumb question" right?

Welcome, Smokeytale! Tell us a tale or two!
Seems I haven't been keeping up with the New Member thread much. I hope to see all you new members posting, asking questions, answering questions, getting rowdy, throwing stuff, breaking stuff.... whatever

Just joined a month or so ago, and did not see this. I am from SW Michigan, and pretty new to pipe smoking. I have enjoyed reading the discussions on here. I have also been watch The Country Squire Radio podcasts, live when I can.

Welcome, welcome, welcome... Good to have you here. Country Squire is a good show, but be sure to also check out our very own Brian Levine on http://pipesmagazine.com/blog/category/radio-talk-show/

He is quirky, intelligent, and opinionated, but he is always entertaining. Kick your shoes off, fire up a pipe, and jump into the forum.
