I like the thought if using Freezer bags for EVERYTHING. Any blend with latakia will stink up the box. Personally, I love it. The missus, though, not so much.

The Box took a trip to the Lehigh Valley Pipe Club last night and gained a few pounds in the process. The esteemed (steamed?) Russ O. kicked in a generous contribution of White Knight and three of the Danish My Own Blend selections. PM member readyserve forked over a few tins including a local blend from Tobacco Village.

Here's what the LV Pipe Club Kicked In
There was more thrown in, and I lost track of who did what, but...
The Box Is Ready To Roll, at just over 11 Pounds
Seeing how Zunismoke has not visited this thread in over 5 months, we move on down the list to our good friend Phonomet!
Phonomet, please check in and let me know that you are ready and able to receive this Postal Pipe Club Extravaganza.

Very pleased to see this shuttling along!

One concern, however, is that the box is now larger than the flat-rate size. The idea with this was to keep it both manageable in terms of the number of things to sample as well as to keep the postage the same for everyone. One of the problems that developed in boxes past was that at one point it cost 25-35$ to mail it depending on how far it was traveling, it contained hundreds of samples, and then went AWOL. As pipesters we're all very eager to share our tobacco, but there comes a point of diminishing return. Also, a refrigerator-sized box that stinks to high heaven is more likely to invite scrutiny by those scions of american defense, the postal inspectors. I'm looking at you, Washington State.
I strongly urge containing it to the large flat-rate box. However, I leave it up to the participants to decide.

I agree with romeowood. Something that will be hard for most participants is taking more than you put in. It's hard, but I suggest everyone take a little more than you put in for the time being. It'll bring the cost of shipping down and make the box way more manageable.

Understood.
I'll see what editing can be done. There are a lot of miniscule samples in the box. I'll pare it down to a flat-rate box, but hold on to what i pull out of it. If in the future the box needs a refueling, I'll have 'baccy in the ready position.

The Box is in motion....9405 9036 9930 0213 7827 52
8 pounds, 11 oz. in a Large Flat Rate box.

I did a little editing, removed the stummels and briar block that I had put in there, and Bob's you uncle.
At this point, the box is full, full, full. I had to sit on it to get it to close. So when it reaches you, do not be shy about taking more than you put back. If there is only a little bit of something, take it all. Don't leave a half a bowl. Invite a friend over for an evening of tasting. Likewise, if the box selection declines, please let me know and I'll forward some of what I had to take out.
If you happened to be looking forward to something that I took out, like:

A medium Rossi Pipe t-shirt

A Savinelli hat

Some Ghost The Box Pass Blend

...let me know, I'll get it out to you.
I've repacked everything into mylar (did you know that 1.5oz fits in a 2x3" bag?) and left a bunch of those bags in the box, so if you are contributing something aromatic/toxic, please repack it. Just double-check that the ziploc is sealed.
I took over a dozen samples. Of course, I forgot to take some of the 1998 McClelland Christmas Cheer that I contributed, so please let me know how it is!
Oh, and let's welcome Defargin to the Box Pass!

Thanks for the welcome woodsroad. I'm looking forward to participating in the "Box-O'Goodness" pass. :puffy:
Ugh...The Bloody McRib. Why doesn't the FDA just leave tobacco alone, and set their sights on the McRib?
They used to serve those things in my grade school cafeteria in the early 80's, I can't understand why they're such a big deal to everyone now.

That box is looking healthy gents. Glad to see woodsroad performing his due diligence and getting it out to the next ACTIVE forum member. You truly are a scholar and a gentleman Dan. I hope you can make it down next week to meet up with derfargin and me at one of the local watering holes that allows smoking on the outside patio.

You, good sir, are bordering on blasphemy! :nana:
... but this website, mcriblocator.com is very helpful for keeping up with McRib sightings.
You, on the other hand, are a gentleman and a scholar!! :worship:
Lol ... looking forward to many fantastic tobacco samples, a Mcrib and some raw chicken for Milo.
