Ok team, here is the update.
I attended Morley's Pipe Club on Thursday and the good folks there had some samples to add to the box. Sutliff has supported our club due to our affiliation with a national group and has sent us tins and samples every month, so I have added "Sutliff Mystery A, B, and C", all individually wrapped. Take your guess on what they are. :) I have also dropped a few tins of Sutliff in as well. If the box becomes too cumbersome I would say once they are opened that they get put into bags and properly labeled.
Since there were a few aro's in there I decided to mix it up a bit and added PS Proper English, PS English Luxury, PS English Oriental, McC St James Woods, McC Christmas Cheer, and a couple of others that I don't remember (and the box is sealed).
Tomorrow the box will be on its way to Leander, TX and I will update the thread once I get the tracking number. I can't wait to see what your group throws in here Pylorns.
Cheers,
Dan

Good on ya, Dan and the Philly club, thanks.

As regards additions to the box:

BAG EVERYTHING--tins are nice, but take up a lot of space.

As Dan mentioned, LABEL THE BAGS! It's impossible to determine what's in an unlabeled bag by smell, as everything begins to smell the same after being shipped in a container with 100 different blends. If someone likes "mystery blend x", then they'll have a tough time trying to figure out what it is.

Considering 2 boxes went missing in the space of 3 months, I'd advise against adding pipes, books, trinkets, Mardi Gras beads, etc. They're nice to see, but again end up taking valuable space away from the purpose of the box--tobacco. Past experience has shown that they tend to stay with the box for a looong time too, as people don't take them out (I like to think, at least, in deference to the next guy).

That being said, do as you like, and enjoy the box!

Romeo, now that we have a new box on the way, perhaps it would be a good time to reiterate the Box Pass Hand-off Protocol (BPHOP) for thems whats babes in the woods on all of this (like me).

To be clear, my "mystery baccy" is just that. Sutliff sent Les 3 HUGE jars of baccy. I think Les is the only one who knows what's in it, hence the "Mystery" labels. We thought it would be fun for folks to try and ascertain what is in the bags. Full disclosure: I have no clue :)

Thanks to Yazamitaz bringing it to the morley club I was able to sample two Sterling for the first time. I was disappointed to hear of the box being lost. But I was happy to contribute 2 C&D blends to the box; Billy Budd and Bayou Morning.
I might just have to officially sign up for it :D

PM sent to pylorns with my info.
I for one, would have no clue on the Sultliff mystery tobacco. Of the 200 containers in my cellar I don't recall having a single Sutliff blend.

I could be mistaken, but I think they were experimental blends that they were looking for feedback on. Not existing blends.

Weee! I'll be looking for it, and as long as my pipe club and I get a good look at it (we meet Thursdays) I can get it back out the door by next Monday or sooner.
ALSO: Just as it should be - Mrjerke has already made contact with me and we're syncing up on the next pass. Take note as this is how it should go - always be in touch with the next guy in the list that way the thing doesn't get lost.

Totally agree. I would have sent it sooner had it been the normal box, but I didn't think it fair that Romeowood filled the whole thing himself. I hope it was worth the wait

Thought I'd add a picture from last night - the Austin Pipe club sampled and added some tobacco in. I won't tell you what we added in to add to the surprise, but I can say that one of the tobaccos may start with a P and end with an E...
