The trouble with Twitter is how to make the thing generate revenue. The current model doesn't work. It is all very well having tons of people sending out tweets but if there is no 'affinity' marketing then the whole thing is at best revenue neutral. If you look at our home galaxy we have a massive universe to post in courtesy of Kevin but it has paid advertising from tobacco and pipe sellers. They pay Kevin a few coins since as we blunder through the place we buy things from the advertisers. As a public company PM would make more sense than twitter since the twitter crew has yet to find a way of monetizing all the loons who post on its platform - you cannot monetize grievances! Musk is a clever businessman, granted he is strange but I suspect he has a few ideas up his sleeve but we will have to wait and see.

The free money spigot has been turned off. I suspect that Musk's lenders are feeling just a tad bit reluctant. Twitter being worth that kind of money is absurd. They are hardly a revenue powerhouse, just whatever information about their subscribers they can sell to...
Well, I could tell you, but I'd end up in a shallow grave in the Angeles Forest.

Every American that wonders, when they are out an about, why people have changed so much over the decades, it’s Social Media, and I’m not joking.

Everyone interested should watch this, and then you’ll understand why people all over the world are the way they are, those that are heavily jacked in to the web.

I know I'm dreaming, but if this whole deal ended up blowing up in both party's faces, then I'd be very happy. Some toxic asshole who is so full-blown sociopathic that he falsely accuses people of being pedophiles when they don't sufficiently kiss his ass, and a toxic cesspool that has done more to retard social discourse than perhaps anything else in the last decade? Let them both go in flames.

Sorry... It is really hard for me to care who buys Twitter. Before I deleted by acct, it just seemed to be all porn and scam artists trying to take advantage of people. I wouldn't be moved to tears if it just went away all together.
I've never used Twitter. Never saw the point.

Wait, there's porn!?!? 🥳

I've never seen anyone burn so much money so quickly. Musky (or which ever group of crooks are funding the buy) will probably end up 'losing' 20-25% over night and unless they have an effective plan to generate A LOT of revenue (and boy is charging per tweet not the right idea buddy - quit trying to pump your shit cryptocurrency) share prices are only going to head south like a fat goose for winter.

What will be interesting will be the stories from people and funds that played this arbitrage. Playing Elon's Ego has been very profitable for me, but I'm sure a proper fund with real money probably made a killing in the last couple of months.

Instagram and Facebook are great ways for a business to market and reach a very specific target audience. Without them, small businesses and services, hell, the whole economy will have to reengineer how they work. Twitter was just never very viable for reaching a target audience... unless you audience is just all men, like porn, ha ha.
I would rather just not do any of it, but if you are a business and not participating in social media, you might as well just yell into the wind. Hell, our local schools, police force, and even City Hall uses social media almost exclusively for posting notes from meeting, new laws, and making us all aware of important things going on in our city. It has become a necessary evil woven into our lives now. If someone is not on social media in our town, I have no idea how these folks would know when garbage pick up is set back a day, or what new laws have been enacted that affect them, or really anything. I guess if you live in the stix and don't leave your house, it don't matter anyhow.

An example of this would be our city's new law about parking in the street, which seemed to just come out of nowhere. If you weren't on social media, it might cost you the inconvenience of losing your car for a day or so and $500.

Never really got into Twitter. Didn't even know it had porn. Now that ultra rich bastard is taking over or talking about taking over, even less interested. Facebook or Meta or whatever, never understood it. I do use Instagram since I like posting meaningless pictures of pipes, food, and stuff. Social media has been around since early 80s. And it was revolutionary. It created people to connect with each other. But something went sideways.

I don't have a twitter account, but was disturbed to hear about all the censorship going on. If Musk takes it over and opens it to all speech I would consider opening an account, but would probably never use it.

Whether he takes it over, or not, I think the concept is in decline.

Seems the Babylon Bee is one of the few remaining sources of real news:

Swarm Of Locusts In Book Of Revelation Revealed To Be Twitter

excerpt:

The passage continues, "They were not allowed to kill them but only to torture them for five months. And the agony they suffered was like that of the sting of a scorpion when it strikes. During those days people will seek death but will not find it; they will long to die, but death will elude them."

"Being tortured for what seems like forever? Preferring death to the agony of the sting? Yeah, that's Twitter alright," Dr. Marcus added.

At publishing time, the team of Bible interpreters had confirmed the painful sores poured out upon the earth are a symbol of Facebook.

Don't really care who owns Twitter, don't use it, or Facebook or Instagram either. If small businesses are expecting to reach me on social media they'll be disappointed.

Twitter is what people do when they're not doing their jobs. Nervous jabber. Tantrums. Unleashed ridicule. If you're well, it will make you unwell, by reading it, or by writing on it.

Elon has too much money, so he'll never go broke. Banks will bail him out. The taxpayers will bail him out. Teams of lawyers will bail him out. And he'll be raking it in with some other unhealthy scheme.

People do well and do good when they are responsible and accountable.
