Asking only out of curiosity.....
Are cobs that are used for pipe-making a special strain of corn? Are these cobs harder, denser, larger in diameter, than ordinary store-bought corn? If I go to the store and buy some fresh corn, can I make my own pipes? Are pipes made from dry or fresh cobs?
I'm asking because _in a store that carries Mexican/Spanish products, beans, dry chiles, sauces, spices, etc. - I have seen bags of dried corn kernels (GOYA brand) that are at least 4X larger than every day corn. I think it might be giant Peruvian corn kernels, or Pozole/Hominy corn. These kernels are enormous. I wonder if the cobs are also much larger in diameter?
Thanks.
