Sounds like the shock I had with an $800 English make not smoking as good as a cob. The reverse Calabash isn't going to be a magic pipe, it just enhances proper packing and cadence.

$62 USD with shipping included ($81.81 CAD). I better keep an ear out for the mailman, don't want the building thief snatching this one parcel.

Same price as the 2015 which surprises me. The rest of MM's prices have raised since then.

Oh, I'm sure they'll sell out fast.

I just use MM pretty exclusively to clench handsfree when driving, hiking w the dog, etc.

This looks a bit heavier, and I've got a few others I ought to direct $ to first.

But, who knows, I could be swayed in the next 48hrs, too, lol.

I do like this design over the first run, for sure.

The reverse calabashes were never meant for clenching, they even came with a disclaimer form that discouraged clenching. I think the new model addressed that issue, but the old one is surprisingly light.

Are cobs that are used for pipe-making a special strain of corn? Are these cobs harder, denser, larger in diameter, than ordinary store-bought corn? If I go to the store and buy some fresh corn, can I make my own pipes? Are pipes made from dry or fresh cobs?

Yes, Missouri Meerschaum uses a special special strain of corn in their cobs: https://corncobpipe.com/from-cobs-to-pipes

Went to the MM links.....don't know how I missed the answer to my question. It was right there on the site. Getting old, I think.

The 2015 version is a great pipe, and have high hopes for the new model. Just got the "shipped" notification today.

Now I have to talk the wife into letting me buy another one. :puffpipe: Hmmm This will get interesting. I just love that design and it will go good with my other MM companions I have on the pipe shelf. Not a bad price either.

I was so disappointed to have missed out on the original run! I continue to prefer it to the current release, but since this time I actually was able to order one, I suppose I'll love the one I'm with.
