That's not too far away. I'll keep it in mind. The Brown Bear in Shelby.
I know lots of great places in TC let me know whenDamn I wish I checked these places out when I was there. Guess it's time to go back!
Wrong one. There's Shelby Township locally, and the other Shelby is in Oceana County. That's not too far away. I'll keep it in mind.
Thank you for the welcome! I'm a native Michigander (Muskegon county); wandered the midwest for school and work, lived in GR in the early 2000s, and now we're in the UP. So glad to be back!
That's the only one I’ve heard of near GR. Paul's in Flint might be the only pipe shop that has a robust selection. Are there any good places for pipe tobacco in the Grand Rapids area? I'm coming down to Rockford this weekend for my dad's memorial service; if there are any good places to visit, I'll stop by (time permitting).
I've already visited Indian River Tobacco Traders in Newaygo a few times this past month. They have a few jars of bulk tobacco behind the counter, and the usual big bags of "pipe tobacco" for the cigarette rollers, but that's about all. I'll get an ounce or two of Haunted Bookshop there, but was wondering whether there are any places with larger selections. Thanks!
I didn't realize there were two. This is probably the one I was thinking about. There is another Indian Rivers TT in GR. They have bulk MacBaren, C&D, and some Sutliff. Tins last time I was there were few and costly. They have some new pipes and estates. They also have a lounge where you can smoke your pipe.
Newago is a place you would remember going to, I’m sure you were in GR (Wyoming) location. HahaI didn't realize there were two. This is probably the one I was thinking about.
I actually haven't been to either but I looked up the Wyoming location since that's where the pipe club meets. Still haven't been able to make it out there but hope to eventually.Newago is a place you would remember going to, I’m sure you were in GR (Wyoming) location. Haha
They have a lot more at the Grand Rapids locationI had time to visit Indian River TT in Newaygo on the way home after the funeral. It's a small place, but they do have about a dozen jars of bulk tobacco behind the register. I got some Haunted Bookshop, and one called "English Luxury", which may be the Peter Stokkebye blend. (They also have Lane 1-Q, some Sutliff blends (including "Hot Chocolate")). No tins. They also have some cleaners, filters, and a few cards of Missouri Meerschaums. I was very pleased to get The General for $13.99: I wanted a larger pipe for some longer smoking time.
I'm looking forward to checking it out someday. With an 8 hour drive ahead, I unfortunately didn't have a chance to visit this time around. Plus I really don't need more pipe supplies and tobacco, at least to hear my wife tell it.They have a lot more at the Grand Rapids location
Greetings all and thank you for the welcome. Newbie to this site and still getting used to navigating the site. I live in a one stop light town in Southwest Lower Michigan right off the big lake. Looking forward to getting to know you all better and one day make a meetup or pipe club event. Been smoking pipes for over 25 years, off and on.
