Thanks for the heads up! I had the email notification setup multiple times last year, but I must not have signed back up for the notification last time it went out of stock.
Hopefully 40th anniversary sticks around. I'd like to continue to buy more of it than I smoke so I can enjoy it aged in a few years!

Apparently this was sent out by P&C in Nov/Dec which started the panic. I did not receive this so it's authenticity is suspect.

We are contacting you regarding your order for McClelland pipe tobacco. The manufacturer has reported that a recent crop needed for a number of their blends was not up to their standards. Until they have a new crop that meets their expectations and prepare it, they will not be producing or taking orders for the affected blends.
As such, backorders for the following McClelland products cannot be filled, and any that have stock left will not be replenished in the foreseeable future:

I don't think that's a McC list. There's blends missing that would be on there because of blends that are already on there.

They may be diverting stock from one thing to another. You'd think that Dark Star should be on there, but maybe it isn't since ECR and DNF are. But, in reading the letter again, it seems that it contains the full McClelland list that P&C and other shops got, since it seems to encompass anything that the shops might still have in stock, or that their customers already have on back-order.

I have a different threshold for "solid info" - official release by the company or person directly involved, with corroborating hard evidence from several reliable sources. Everything else is just unsubstantiated rumor.

Gossip and innuendo aside, I’m glad I stocked up on MC 40th last year. I’m good for a very long time and that makes it easier to sit back and watch the panic. I love this stuff. Along with F&T CVP and maybe Wessex and FVF the 40th holds top shelf and priority in my hord.

I dunno.... the fact that all those blends happen to be sold out at P&C either tells us that the email quoted above is legit, or that a lot of people fell for a rumor. I haven't checked stock at other sites.

406 tins available @ 9:40 pm CST 1/27 at smokingpipes for only $16.5K. Could be a great investment with 100% profit margin. Don't know why their selling instead of hoarding it, to be truthful.
