So after my first bowl I have a bit to report. After initial light, I noticed it would trigger my cough reflex unlike other tobaccos. It did however subside after several puffs. I found the flavor interesting, maybe a bit harsh. I think that may be being new to the blend.

I need more time with the blend.

I got an ounce of the Crooner about two years ago and found it particularly awful. At the time lots of green bits of the herb were proliferating the blend.

I then came across it quadruple bagged under some random ounces that hasn't made the cut and found the blend to have no green, the deertongue had aged to a color almost that of the tobacco.. so I tried it again and it was surprisingly pleasant. Of course I know about and am a fan of aging but as for the deertongue has anyone else noticed this change and found it for the better or worse?

I smoke mostly my own blends some of which have a lot of deer's tongue in them (5%). I notice after a few years the deer's tongue is very muted. I keep a few pounds of the herb sealed in mason jars and tend to mix up small batches since it appears to fade with time.

I purchase from Penn Herb. Most places I checked sold it in powdered form but Penn Herb had it in powdered and shredded. I figured shredded would blend into tobacco better than a powder.

I too like Crooner and the DT in it, but find the burley a little too much. I generally cut it 50/50 with a bulk Virginia. I used to do it with 5100, but now usually use one of the Sutliff bulk red Vas or Hearth & Home Marble Kake. It really smooths it out and makes for a nice blend. IMO Crooner has a lot of DT, and it does not get lost after adding the Virginia.
