I love Clint Eastwood as an actor, when he was younger and now, as a director.
I have not enjoyed his recent acting roles. Old guys can still be tough guys, no longer works for him. (Gran Torino, Mule, etc.)

I love his movies and productions as a film director. Thanks to him, my home province (Almeria) is famous for his Spaghetti westerns. A good man. I don't understand how he doesn't like tobacco, joking, hahahahahahaha. God bless him always.View attachment 241930
I regret that I didn't get to the town and the saloon where some of his movies were shot while I was in Spain. Maybe next summer. I hope to spend a month in Portugal and Italy with some visits back to Spain. Perhaps I'll buy a Fez in the Moroccan quarter near @JOHN72 and bring some of the guys up to his place to drink some of his whiskey, LOL.

What about the one where he has a pink Cadillac and a pet orangutan? It often gets glossed over when thinking of his body of work, but liked that one as a kid.
Clyde the orangutan was in Every Which Way But Loose and Any Which Way You Can, and Clint drove a pickup. Those were funny and entertaining films.

Pink Cadillac was a different movie...Clyde wasn't in it. But it does stand out as his absolute worst movie. In fact it's one of those that are so bad it's good.

Play Misty for Me is a truly scary film like a modern Alfred Hitchcock film ... Also he is a jazz officianato, piano player, singer, businessman as well as actor, writer, director.... talent is talent and comes through in any endeavor.
Play Misty for Me was the original Fatal Attraction, and didn't really get the acclaim it deserved.

And yes, jazz is another side of him. If anyone has not seen his magnificent film on Charlie Parker, "Bird", with Forest Whitaker, you should make a point of watching it.

Clint's son Kyle is a jazz musician, btw.

The worst thing I've ever heard about him is that he didn't actually enjoy smoking the Toscanos..
??? - Never heard he smoked Toscanos. I read that when traveling to make the Spaghetti westerns he grabbed his gear from the rawhide set ... poncho and gunbelt and snake grip gun as well as a box of Marsh Wheeling Stogies. As he had only the one box he used to cut them in half to get through the whole script. Don't know which is true now.

I don't know if true, but I think he didn't like tobacco. I also didn't hear anything about whether he liked to drink a good whiskey, distillate, or a good wine.

I always liked Clint Eastwood on the screen, but I like him even more as a director. He's maintained the art of simply telling the story and not trying to be "creative" about it. That doesn't mean he's not creative, nor shallow. Nobody could have made a wondrous film like Hereafter who was either of those things. He just doesn't engage in the superfluous. Maybe that's why I have almost all of his films, including the big boxed set, on DVD.
I agree about Hereafter...anyone who has not seen that one really should check it out.

And among the great films that he has directed but not acted in, another that I would highly recommend (in addition to Bird) is Changeling, which is based on a true story, and didn't seem to get a lot of attention, but IMO it is a truly great film and not to be missed.
