I love ashtrays. I've accumulated them ranging from small cocktail table size from old Vegas to large branded cigar lounge ashtrays. I've stuck the cheap cork knockers in some and have crafted custom knockers in others. The Dunhill bowls with the asbestos dome center came in 3 tones. I have the silver (as shown), bronze and am searching for a gold one in VG to EX condition. Here are a few of mine that I have pictures of. 8O

I have this talavera dish "ashtray" that I added a cork button to along with a tequila glass pipe cleaner holder here in my home in southern AZ.

I have a tray I enjoy braking flakes on. It serves to hold my tobacco before I load the pipe, and it where it rests waiting to dry if too moist. Another good feature is that it is the right size to easily lift up and pour the small dust into the pipe by using the tip of the tobacco leaf as a spout.

Seeing as how I live at the edge of Mirkwood Forest, I find that it is a good idea to keep my spider defenses on standby.

It is actually in the George Washington-Jefferson National Forest that I live. I have found hundreds of Black Widow spiders on my property, and it seems to attract nests of Copperheads. The spray is mainly for inside the house to get into places I cannot reach for smooshing. The wasp sprays usually come in high pressure stream versions, which are not good for inside the house. I try to catch the Copperheads for relocation and only had to shoot one. Such beautiful animals, too bad they are not dog friendly. On the subject of pest management, I recommend an automatic airsoft rifle for mouse control in the house. Not only is it more satisfying than a mouse trap, but it doesn't put holes in the floors and walls.
I am not sure if it is brass or brass color painted. It has a varnish and looks to be painted to me.

. Large Ceramic Leaf, my Mother bought furniture in the 50s and the custom was you get a little Langnappe, something extra, the owner of the furniture store gave her 2 ashtrays, I black and one cream, both the same. The cream one is in the barn, a big cat sleeps in it, need to get it before it's broken.

No made-for-the-purpose ashtrays in daily use. I have a small, deep, square dark red condiment dish from Walmart as an actual receptacle for ash; I have a shallow stone dish, small but somewhat wide, for resting my pipes between lights and as a sort of bull pen for the next pipe selected, and a somewhat bell shaped no-handle pottery tea cup as a receptacle for spent matches. I used to have a shallow dish with a champagne cork glued to the bottom, but I scoop rather than knock my pipes, just by habit.

I like Brad's first option... I have a couple of ashtrays, but don't smoke inside, so the ashes/dottle go on the ground. I did pick up a couple of good ideas from this thread though, like the shot glass.
I prepare tobacco on this little blue plate sometimes.

After looking at this thread, I see I could be using my bronze 'ashtray' for tobacco prep too.

I use the gaping wounds of my enemies as ashtrays. Nothing else could compare, especially as I drink mead from their skulls.

Damn I screwed up, when I almost cut off a couple fingers with my Bushhog I could of used the wound as an ashtray and used one finger that was almost off as a knocker.

Since everyone else is posting pics, I didn't want to be the slacker...
Pic of the aforementioned shot glass. This corner of the desk, keeping my caffeine and nicotine supply at the ready, is responsible for most of my higher thought process.
