What is the deal on the FDA regulations as to why this was discontinued? I get it couldn't be grandfathered, but I thought pipe tobacco was a little bit different regulatory-wise - as I see many new blends still coming out, so I don't understand fully. (I do realize FDA regulations are a complex thing, LOL!)

I only have two unopened tins left. This really stinks that Lane stopped making this. I should have invested in a few 12 can boxes when I had the chance. I had a friend who worked at Cup Of Joe's back when they were shipping out of New York. He got me one case but I gifted a lot away .

At least you have some. How did it stack up against Granger , CH and PA? If it was available I'd throw it in my codger rotation (which is mostly all I smoke).

I have the Lane Limited (cans) and Sutliff (bulk) versions. What I favor of the Lane Limited version is the consistency can over can. Whereas the Sutliff version varies in flavor, presumed (by me) to be variance in batches...purchased across several years. All are good versions and I would miss them dearly if I didn't have any more.

@huntertrw, regarding the author Gene Hill:

"Sing me the old songs.
Tell me the stories of times gone by.
I want to spend an evening or so with you
to hear about your dogs.
I want to see your guns.
I want to read your favorite books.
I want to warm my hands in front of your fire
and try your pipe tobacco and taste your whisky.
