Hate to hear any blend going out of production. I have a few tubs that I got at Low Country half off in the dented can section.
Absolutely YES edger my friend!!!Sutliff RR(Edgeworth match). In my opinion superior to the original. Better burley but needs some drying to reduce the cocoa.
How do you apply the molasses and how do you press it?D&R Two Timer cased with some molasses and cocoa, and pressed for a couple days, makes a nice codger one too, if you feel a bit adventurous.
you have the eyes of comedian. Just a observation on the avatar. For any interested parties; I know that there are currently 31 (14oz) cans remaining through the 3 major online merchants. I'm unsure of how much COJ's has (they sell it "bulk" per 2 oz increments). I did make a sizeable purchase, so these figures are post-purchase, up to the minute.
All the local B&M's that I personally know in the Metro Detroit area have sold out, except for 1 guy who had a 14-count (1.5 oz pouches). I gave him my money. lol
Just a damned shame to see such a delicious, storied and deeply-rooted brand go out like this. Whadyagonnado.
Metro-Detroiter here. Michigan has a strong presence on this forum (and being from the Mitten, we have our gloves on).For any interested parties; I know that there are currently 31 (14oz) cans remaining through the 3 major online merchants. I dillute in warm water, one small teaspoon per 50ml. Then warm up the tobacco in the oven or microwave and lightly spray with the casing. I actually add another teaspoon of chocolate syrup, and that makes a nice burley casing. The quantity that you spray is a matter of tastes. I just spray the minimum, so it improves the smoke but you don't taste it. But you may like tasting the casing, so you might have to dry the tobacco and spray more. Anyhow, I suggest trying with small samples and with little casing (because you can add more if you want, but the other way around is inpossible). How do you apply the molasses and how do you press it?
I've never tried topping a blend myself, but when I mix two tobaccos (generally adding a straight Virginia to cut the sweetness), I press it between two pie plates with my barbell weights stacked on top.
I'd reckon you'd need to dilute the molasses. Thanks!
That was the intent. I never take myself too seriously. ?you have the eyes of comedian. Just a observation on the avatar.
Paul's is AWESOME. I don't get up that way very often, but I always stop in on my way up to the U.P.Metro-Detroiter here. Michigan has a strong presence on this forum (and being from the Mitten, we have our gloves on).
What B&M's do you frequent? I'm a fan of Paul's Pipe Shop in Flint and Campbell's Smoke Shop in East Lansing.
there is no good reason to take your self too seriously. First off life is pretty absurd and doubly so if you're a human. Secondly while people like thinking they are in control and all that jazz, the fact is we just aren't.That was the intent. I never take myself too seriously. ?
I have never purchased from them, but paylesscigarsandpipes.com shows having 31 tubs of it right now.Just following up on this thread, is there any more news about Lane Limited RR being discontinued? I've only recently discovered it and it seems like it is nowhere to be found. Iwan Ries still has a few pouches and tubs left but I can't find it anywhere else.
I have some Sutliff match which is good in its own right but not quite the same. Thanks
It's been discontinued, so stock up if you want a supply.Just following up on this thread, is there any more news about Lane Limited RR being discontinued?
Welcome back! ?On May 13, 2015 I posted the following here on the Forums:
"An open letter to Mr. Leonard Wortzel of Scandinavian Tobacco Group, Lane Limited
"Dear Mr. Wortzel:
"I want to publicly thank you for listening to those of us who were clamoring for the return to the market of the former Edgeworth Ready-Rubbed pipe-tobacco. I understand that it will now be called Lane Limited Ready-Rubbed. As Mr. Shakespeare once wrote, "What's in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet...," and so may it be with this new/old blend!
"I was originally introduced to ERR by the late sporting author Gene Hill, who for 20-some-odd-years wrote the "Hill Country" column for "Field & Stream" magazine. Mr. Hill, a life-long pipe-smoker, loved ERR and recommended it to me, as he thought that I would love it as well. He was correct! Accordingly, you can imagine my despair when it was discontinued. Your action brings back to life for me a tried and true old friend, and I do appreciate it."
Thank-you, again, Mr. Wortzel for the subsequent seven-year lease on life of this old standard!
Glad to see you again. Hope to see more of you here.On May 13, 2015 I posted the following here on the Forums:
