You know what's really worth trying to getting your hands on? A UK blend called "Buckland Curlies". It's only available in bulk from McGahey The Tobacconist. It has kind of a love/hate relationship on tobacco reviews but I definitely fall into the love category. I haven't had it in years because they no longer ship directly to the US and it's crazy expensive. It's spicy with perique and certainly worth trying for VaPer fans who likes things on the peppery side. This is the blend that first got me interested in VaPers.

I'm pretty sure I just read somewhere in another thread that "Uncle Buck Curlies" is the alternate marketing name in the Ozarks for "Clan". The reviews all seem to agree it's too moist in the pouch.
Almost every blend is packed and shipped at a moisture level that ensures it's not too dry when you get it. That means it can benefit from some fresh air and drying time. YMMV.

Advice? Dry the shit out of the Esoterica. Most of it comes tinned at 90% RH @70º, and it smokes way better around 60% RH. Been a long time since I've smoked Escudo, but most tobaccos benefit from drying time. Enjoy!
Agree and Dunbar takes a long time to dry out!
I still very much enjoy Escudo, yes even the current day stuff. Just because these bozos don’t like it, doesn’t mean you won’t.

Dunbar is one of my all time favorite VaPers. Enjoy!

I have some advice: give the Esoterica to me! Excellent B&M find. I always hear there are gems out there in the shops but the closest store with any selection is 60 miles and I don’t make it that way very often. I bought some escudo last year that I haven’t smoked. It’s no good? That’s a disappointment.

So far I really like the Escudo. Without getting into review territory, it's a little milder than Luxury Bullseye flake. Not quite as spicy. It might be that it's more subtle, or that my palate isn't as refined. For the price, and enjoyment level, LBF will remain in my rotation, and the Escudo will be a treat for as long as what I have lasts in the jar.
I also recently picked up an aged tin of Dunhill Deluxe Navy rolls, which I understand is/was nearly identical to Escudo, or actually is identical, so when I break that one open I'm hoping to be able to have a "good old days" experience.

in the place I live it seems like the best plan is to open the tin a week before smoking it. By the next week it's close enough to smoke amazing. An Escudo in my opinion is a fine desert island blend, also not bad if you are stuck on a dessert island too.

I love that one except it seems like they don't put enough in the tin and it runs out surprisingly quickly.

I never had the old one but recent production didn't impress me at all. I'd buy Stokkebye over that shit.
Joke's on you! They're using Stokkebye tobaccos to make Escudo. That's one of the reasons why it's not what it used to be. At least with LBF there's a marked improvement after 4 years. With the STG version of Escudo, aging is a waste of time.

Boy you're not kidding. I had 10 year old tin of Escudo I opened last year and it tasted like nothing.

beware of the lie that this and that are precisely the same just relabeled. It's just not the case (except for the rare once or twice it is).
