Pretty new to this venture and only have 5 lbs or so cellared and in unopened tins. Need to smoke more to justify more tobacco acquisitions.

Likely so, at the slow loris pokey way I consume tobacco. I'm always buying a little something and smoking not quite that much, so it catches up with me. I have five years worth at minimum, although I "plan" to live another thirty years, to catch up with Kirk Douglas. I could be gone tomorrow or around until people say, I thought he died twenty years ago. Such is life.

At my current rate, I have about 6 years, which won't get me to retirement and is about 10% of what I'd need. That said, I'm cellaring more for ageing than hording. I'd like to double what I have then maintain a 10 year cellar.

According to Ray Kurzweil I’ll live forever but either way I think I don’t have enough yet. I’m still working on it. Other than a Pipestud order and a small KBVEN order I haven’t made any purchases in the last month and a half, I have some catching up to do.

I have about 40 tins or so, about 2/3 jarred, and a bunch of small jars of bulk “codger blends” i was curious about. Roughly 5 pounds of tobacco which at my current rate should last around 10 years. But im still exploring and buying more judiciously.

Part of the “problem” is that pipe tobacco is so much cheaper than cigars on a per smoke basis that everything seems like a bargain. One tin of good pipe tobacco that could last for a few years if smoked occasionally is the same price as one decent cigar.

im curious, has the hoarding — errr cellaring — picked up in light of fda fears?

There’s never going to be enough! Never...ever! I’ll keep stacking until it blocks out the light...or until my wife yells at me. Whichever comes first. ?
too late for me... after hearing of my latest TAD acquisition ( to be posted upon arrival) the wife said I couldn't buy anymore till I smoked it down somewhat. To be fair I am running out of shelf space.

Probably have about 10 years worth in the cellar but I keep filling the holes and buying for the sake of aging some blends. Plus I always seem to add when a new interesting blend comes out so I doubt I will ever run out.
