Unless I live past 100, I'm good. But I'll still buy some more, to fill in a few gaps, just in case. In relative terms, pipe tobacco is cheap and isn't likely to go down in price. I'd rather die with a mountain left to smoke than find myself wanting for something at some point down the road. Unless something catastrophic happens or my wife passes and I marry a 22 year old over sexed bombshell, my children and grandchildren will be reasonably well taken care of.

Unlikely, but maybe. I just started this hobby late last year and am currently an infrequent smoker. That may change, but the bigger concern is that there is still so much out there that would be nice to try. However, this is a bit like my beer hobby in that I know that I can't possibly try them all and don't try.

Right now I have 16 open tobaccos in jars and probably another 12-16 other different tobaccos in sealed tins for later. I have resolved not to open anything new until a jar is empty. At the rate I'm smoking, what I already have could likely last for many years. But that could change and there is plenty of tins I would like to have in the cellar to try later just in case they do become unavailable. I only wish that I would have bought more tobacco before the state excise tax went into effect, but I was unaware of that as I was just dipping a toe into the hobby at that time. Oh well. It's still not a terrible cost now, but I haven't yet been able to justify it to myself (and definitely not to my wife) that I need any more in the cellar than what I currently have, even with the possible impending tobacco apocalypse within the next year or so.
