Yes, so did I. What I meant was that the seller isn't the "mix and match" type with pipe parts. If it's not original I don't think it was the seller's doing.

Send that one pipe to me, I’ll chop off 1/2 of that bowl, rough it up with a saw blade, douse it with lube and write a soliloquy that would make Plato weep.

Sure. I originally contacted the seller because his choice of shipping was the dreaded eBay Global stealing filching Shipping and to make him aware of the risks to his property. He responded very candidly that"nobody" actually uses eBay Global Shipping because all the buyers tend to be Chinese and all he needs to do is to send the merchandise to a local agent who handles any needed "lying" to the authorities and other trifles. No fuss, no muss, the Chinese have "slick ways of importing goods"
I found his candor hilarious. Chinese do the same thing here with Esoterica blends. Why would any of this be a surprise?

A heavy touch with one of these at "hand rotation speed", then the lathe switched on and the edges of the impression cleaned up with ring cuts, I'd imagine:

Wonder how he gets way with that, but the idea is much appealing.

Unless the rules have changed, sellers are not required to use eBay's corrupt criminal Global Shipping. It's just an option. He gets an instruction from the buyer regarding where to send the merchandise locally and that's it. eBay really doesn't seem to care, as long as it gets its cut.

No, they are not. But this was to be shipped through Ebay, right ?
The seller listed it as such and once done he cannot change the shipping method .
Or maybe this is just my " once a week dimwitted day " .

Likely some form of cutter to give that appearance, like George posted. Too much work to do actual shaping. Beautiful piece BTW. I have one of these from 1913, that's also a YOW. Haven't yet seen an earlier YOW.

This one is head scratcher. That cannot be the original stem, right? I can't see any dots (1 or 4) on this stem.

Correct…but, the agent is based in UK, whereas the global shipping program is preset for international purchases.

I essentially do the same thing to get pipes out of the UK. Except my “agent” is an acquaintance
