Yes, so did I. What I meant was that the seller isn't the "mix and match" type with pipe parts. If it's not original I don't think it was the seller's doing.

Sure. I originally contacted the seller because his choice of shipping was the dreaded eBay GlobalIs it to be disclosed what was so hilarious ?
The bead line looks classic. Dunno for sure how it's done. Probably a stamp of some sort.
I think @cosmicfolklore talked about how it was done. Can’t find the thread so linking him into this rabbit hole insteadThe bead line looks classic. Dunno for sure how it's done. Probably a stamp of some sort.

So while his listings are to be send by the loathed "what we will not mention fuck up " , he dodges the system, ships to a ( Chinese ? ) agent etc. If so, my best guess is Ebay will probably haunt him and urge him to mail the pipes to an Ebay hub , unless I misunderstand your ( his ) meaning. Wonder how he gets way with that, but the idea is much appealing.Sure. I originally contacted the seller because his choice of shipping was the dreaded eBay Globalstealing filchingShipping and to make him aware of the risks to his property. He responded very candidly that"nobody" actually uses eBay Global Shipping because all the buyers tend to be Chinese and all he needs to do is to send the merchandise to a local agent who handles any needed "lying" to the authorities and other trifles. No fuss, no muss, the Chinese have "slick ways of importing goods"
I found his candor hilarious. Chinese do the same thing here with Esoterica blends. Why would any of this be a surprise?

Do I make sense ?
No, they are not. But this was to be shipped through Ebay, right ?Unless the rules have changed, sellers are not required to use eBay'scorrupt criminal Global Shipping. It's just an option. He gets an instruction from the buyer regarding where to send the merchandise locally and that's it. eBay really doesn't seem to care, as long as it gets its cut.
Likely some form of cutter to give that appearance, like George posted. Too much work to do actual shaping. Beautiful piece BTW. I have one of these from 1913, that's also a YOW. Haven't yet seen an earlier YOW.Not (un)usual.
This is my 1903 bulldog ; the bead line looks to be "carved", certainly not stamped :

Apparently that's no longer the case. Looking at the shipping rules say that you can revise shipping at any time. No, but this was to be shipped through Ebay, right ?
A seller cannot change the shipping once an item is listed.
Correct…but, the agent is based in UK, whereas the global shipping program is preset for international purchases. No, but this was to be shipped through Ebay, right ?
