There were a couple of Camoys in with the second lot that I was surprised went so cheap.

I almost forgot about this one, a hallmarked 1909 GBD with some pretty impressive grain. That might be the oldest GBD hallmark I've seen.

Would it have been a mistake to have cleaned up the silver band? My guess is for a collector, they want the patina. A smoker might want a spiffy band.

Fetching a pretty penny, they are beautiful, despite the dip stain.

Stunning grain ; this pipe puts my 1986 Dunhill DR two stars to sleep. Easily.
My 1950 DR h graded cased two pipes set is not too bad though.

This one caught me out. A well worn Peterson 9BC, but not advertised by model number, and in Premier Selection grade. It will restore nicely. Restored 9BC's usually go for around $190 - this one brought $203 in unrestored condition, with 28 bids.

Here's a nice little 2 pipe cased set of 1920s Dunhills. Has the potential to be bid up pretty high.

What a lovely set of pipes. Call me crazy, but I'm a sucker for old Dunnies .
Please bear in mind this not a completed auction .

The Bard Of Barlings

Did anyone notice this "Barling"?

I honestly think this is a fake. I know that faking a Balring seems unlikely, but there's nothing about this pipe that feels correct.

First, there's the bowl shape. I have never, ever, seen this kind of a shape. It's more of a Peterson shape.
There's the Barlling logo. The font is wrong, The only time the word "Barling" was used was when it was in script. It's never been used in block. Any block lettering says "Barling's Make".

It has fills. Barling smooths NEVER had fills.

Under the "BARLING" logo it says "MADE IN ENGLAND". Barling never put MADE IN ENGLAND below the logo. For a brief period around 1912 they used the single word "ENGLAND" below the "BARLING'S MAKE" logo.

Nothing in the shaping of the stem, and especially the button, says Barling to me.

Any thoughts about this?

Have the pictures since been removed from this “barling” listing or am I just not able to see them for some reason?
Country restriction? I just accessed the listing. You're not missing much:

[So underexposed you can barely make out the BARLING.]

Nothing particularly helpful, however, as a jeweler I see some interesting things with the “Barling’s” stamping.
Jesse, when it comes to Barling you’re the man. However, I can zero in a something specific.
The “Barling “ stamp itself has some inconsistent spacing between letters and is a slightly different font than the “Made In England” stamp. Also, when the stamp was applied the edges of the stamp, beyond the letters, left inadvertent gouging under some, but not all the letters so they appear underlined. This gives me the notion that the letters were assembled individually and applied individually or held in a holder of some sort versus a complete stamp.
