A bit OT but it seems like others have the same idea on the Cuban real estate:

@chasingembers - I feel for you. Im the same way. The good Lord did not grant me the ability to harvest cheek and jaw hair, just the chin and lip.
However, I do have long hair (10+ inches), a goatee and handlebar stache. I may not can look rugged, but I can certainly look suave.
FYI - the AVATAR is not current. My stache is an inch longer, and full 2" gray goatee

Shikano,
How's the beard coming? You should get anywhere from a 1/4" to 3/4" growth per month but over the long run should average ~1/2" per month if you're going for a long beard. Take & record measurements the same way every month, & pictures. Then you can always trim back to whatever you (or your wife) liked best.

JohnnyReb,
Well She who must be obeyed sat me down after about 3 weeks of growth and said, "Chris, you have to make a choice. A beard or sex. Your call."
Honestly, I really had to think about it for a few days before I decided..." 8O

Too bad. Not every guy has that problem. She was the local celebrity host of the competition. She left with the winner.

Jiujitsu,
He's the "double winner" but it's not me!
From your updated pic you have a nice beard & good genes to grow a nice full one too. You're blessed with that ginger red color that everyone in the beard world wants now. How about shooting for something like this?

I don't know who this guy is but he was in the parade last yr at the World Beard & Mustache Championships in Portland, but I don't think he entered the competition. As a pipe smoker if he posts here maybe he will identify himself?

Foggy, you are a beautiful soul & should have been a photographer and an artist.

Probably ran a camera shop and pipe shop on the side, peace to Sir.

I don't fancy wearing a beard at all. Nor long hair even though I don't have much left. However, I do like growing a Goatie every once in a while, when I'm on vacation, 'cause me Old Lady says I look like the ultimate bad ass - and she loves it.

I don't use the binder clip but I use those same rubber bands every night before I go to sleep. It only takes a few times of laying on your own beard or it ending up in your arm pit to realize you need to do something with it when you sleep.

Johnnyreb, actually it was my call. I used to grow a beard every winter. I don't know if the beard actually made it feel warmer or if it was mostly psychological. I've spent a lot of years up north surveying and running ground geophysics. Every summer it got clipped. Now I guess I'm just getting to the point where I find it too irritating and prefer it smooth.

But those are some kick-ass beards.

Chris

It is signed Bolgi #1.

I've been told he was a carver from back in the late 60s through the 70s but I haven't found any other information on him.
It's lighter than it looks and it smokes beautifully.
I saw one like this on eBay but lost the bidding war. Mentioned it to a friend on another forum and a couple of weeks later this one showed up in the mail.

It's a pay it forward type of deal and I intend to do that a couple of times. over.
