Like everyone else, I don't know to whom or what the OP was referring. After all, what in the world is an "indie" tobacconist? Aren't they all indies? What major corporations own tobacco/pipe shops? And if he meant "indie" pipemakers, as opposed to larger-scale operations, well. . . I buy what I like from whoever produces it, just like I do everything else. I couldn't care less where or by whom something is made; whoever has something I want or need gets my money.
That said, I am an avid supporter of several of our advertisers here, who offer stock and selection that far exceeds anything I've ever seen in a brick-and-mortar store. I do continue to buy from the latter when I can, but places like SmokingPipes.com are responsible for many of the pipes in my racks and the vast majority of the tins in my cellar.
