It sounds like a young man who's angry, but doesn't quite know what he's angry about.

I think the best part of this thread is the fact we are all rambling on and the OP is still absent from the conversation he sparked. I think it's great this site has no VIP members section (paid) and that the ads are not in the middle of the thread like many other forum. Also the ads are all related to pipes and tobacco and I really never tire of looking at pipes I can't afford. Like someone else said having links to the sponsors just makes this site more of a resource.

And, no.... I'm not telling how I did that. :nana:

I know how you did! :nana:
I don't know what Lawrence is talking about... Kevin pays, me. OK, OK. He and I have an agreement. I moderate and he supplies the Pipe Babes for various functions I attend. J/K! LOL!
I love the ads here, even if they do cause strain on my wallet.

Am I the only one who saw ADS and thought it was another one of those new fangled internet acronymns lol. I don't mind the advertisements at all. They help keep the site free.

This is just about the only site I don't have AdBlock block ads on. I like pipe ads and I wouldn't mind seeing more of them on other sites.
I also think there is nothing wrong in supporting artisans. I still haven't bought any commissioned pipes but I bet it'll happen sooner or later.

Ads fuel my PAD and TAD addictions, and for this I am grateful. And if there were no ads, we'd go looking for them. Because it's subliminal, you see: notice the "AD" in PAD/TAD? It's a vicious cycle.
Time to go buy something...

I consider myself an "indie pipemaker". I work by myself, for myself. I work when I want to, I make what I want to. I am bound to no-one. I have no contractual obligations.
The fact that I sell some of my pipes through smokingpipes.com, one of the major sponsors of this site, makes me no less of an indie artist. (Fact is, most of the brands they carry would be considered "indie" artists) I choose what to sell to them, and am not obligated to sell anything to them just as they are not obligated to buy any of my pipes.
That particular advertiser not only helps my business, but also does the same for dozens of other "indie" pipemakers who also work for themselves and by themselves.
So I say: Click on those ads and buy Indie if you haven't already!
Cheers!

Well said Tjameson, well said. Every time I am on here (which is a LOT lately) I can't help but click on an ad that shows a beautiful pipe. I have only made two purchases since I joined and they were with 4noggins and P&C, two retailers I NEVER would have ordered with had it not been for this site and the ads. I was so happy with them I know I will order from them again. I look at that as a win-win-win.
Just my .02

Thanks to this site I have plenty of tobacco shops to spend my money at.
As far as the OP I think he's just trying to be a troll. Guerilla piper pffft even the name is ridiculous.

Walt:
your post prompted me to visit your site. Wow.
You have a unique and wonderful vision, and can execute it.
I am a huge rustication fan and have never seen anything quite like what you do. This, for example: Cannoy pipe
The rustication is simultaneously very fine and very craggy. Simply amazing. (ETA: I see you call it a "suede blast" which makes sense. Is it actually a blast, not a rust? Either way, gorgeous.)
As for the OP -- I pointed out above that his avatar includes the image of a murdering commie terrorist. Even THAT did not draw a response. So, yeah, his OP was a troll. But what he intended for bad has been used for good. Kevin, i trust reading this thread is gratifying to you.

You should listen to Episode #24 of the PipesMagazine Radio Show. Walt was the featured interviewee, and he talked at length about his pipes and his process.

Thanks tslex!
It is a blast. It's not an artificial/contrived texture at all. I have resigned to the fact that it is such a new and unique blast that folks just aren't going to understand it for quite some time... :D
Cheers!

The best part about our sponsors is that P&C, Smokingpipes and 4noggins have the best prices on tobacco, accessories and in most cases pipes on the net, so for me it is a no brainer to support them.
