They don't need anymore testers?
Offer is still available as far as I am aware. They just said it only applies to their finished pipes, not the semi finished ones or stummels without stems. I was keen to grab one of them so I could see the briar stock they were working with. No worries though, I’ll grab this so atleast there is something else to compare

It might be interesting to get one of their dark stained ones and remove the stain to see if there are many pits and fills in the briar. That would give us an idea as to the grade of briar they are using.
Yes I was planning on doing something similar when pipe arrives. Also curious about contents in chamber coating

I’m back!

I’ve been waiting to corroborate information that Ideapipes was giving me, whether or not if this was factual.

Given the sensitivity of this, the person/company that was said to have a working relation with Ideapipes, asked to remain anonymous.

Ideapipes gave me false information, they lied to me in an email.

Now they certainly do seem to be in the Pipe business, but if you’re going to spend your money with this company, spend no more than $20USD, then consider your Credit Card safety!

I contacted @python with a PM, over the details of this. It’s now up to him whether this post lives or dies.

I for one am done, I threw the pipe away!

Who could have guessed somthing like this could of happened. Shady cheap stuff and less than upright business practices from a china based company hard to believe.

+1 for keeping this thread alive. The review of the pipe and experience is important.

+1

This thread can stay open for informational purposes as long as it doesn't turn into a bashing/dog piling thread.

Bad/negative experiences are good to know about and can create good and important discussions. But a ton of bashing and negative comments don't add any value to the discussion.

You may have thought I was bashing and a xenophobe earlier, actually, you accused me of it.

What you don’t know is I deal with Chinese Jobbers on a regular basis.

Houdini couldn’t do a better job. It’s just the reality of doing business with China.

Yeah, as I also said earlier, having spent a little time in the country as a musician, this is truly normal business behavior.

I should caveat that by explaining that my guide while in country, and longtime collaborator of a close friend of mine, explained to all of us that lying is an acceptable practice in business in China and to expect it.

You can kind of just treat this like bartering, except that you might be being totally lied to about what you are ultimately receiving if you aren't careful.

Not you. The OP. I’m not worried.

The past is the past, this is the New Year, live, love and enjoy while you are still able. ?

If I’m the OP you’re referring to, and I said something to bother or offend you, that was not my intentions, so sorry.

Let’s drop the past and move on!

Aloha! ?

P.S. Everyone drop the Chinese past too! ;)

I just ran across this Tsuge on sale at SPC for $54, this I would consider a better choice to spend on.
