I also hibernate in the garage when I smoke. While I enjoy the aroma, not everyone in this household does.

After almost 6 hours in and out of the attic, the exhaust system is done!

I've been sitting here in a 120 sq ft room with the door cracked and the fan going, smoking for 20 minutes and the room is as clear as a bell. I'm in HEAVEN!
Never again will I don the sweatshirt and hat to go stand out in the garage like the black sheep of the family, NEVER!!
Fan and ductwork $150

Grill, timer and wire $120

Laying on my ass in my recliner smoking in my own home,.....priceless!

I used to smoke inside the house, but my wife and I didn't like the stale smoke smell, so I built an office ( 13' X 15' ) in the breeze-way between the house and garage, I tied into the house heat/ac system so it is comfortable in the cold and summer heat, I did not put in a return air duct, I just crack a window for the pressure relief, no smoke in the house. I have a nice place to work and smoke and everyone in the family is happy.

I prefer to smoke outside, in solitude, in my potting shed!!! it's quieter there, no nagging, just me and my pipe.......... and maybe a few hundred spiders but apparently they love the smell of my tobacco or at least they don't seem to mind?...... unlike the wife!! LOL.

I should smoke outside and not inside, I'm renting and moving shortly. But, it's not the cold that gets me smoking outside it is the hard wind. Makes smoking not as enjoyable and cumbersome. I try to only smoke aromatics inside but that aint always the case. I'll see in a few weeks if I end up paying for it. My next place wont be an issue.
My fiance' was looking over my collection. With a stern look she turns and says, it smells like smoke. My answer, no sht Enstien, your standing with your nose 3 feet over 20 some odd pipes and 3 tins of tobacco. One girly trick I think is to have some fun stuff blended with your collection, my ceramic dog stands, antique green canning jars, pipe related figurines etc. Makes the women folk keep quite, they wont admit they like it or think some of the things are "cute" to them or whatever..

When we started having grandboys, I moved to the garage. Hot in the summer and used a propane heater in the winter.
The wife wanted a new house 3 years ago so in the design, I managed a 14' X 16' HAM room off of the garage. My place, complete with HAM radios, 30 inch flat screen tv, computer, window air and electric heater in the winter. I did not want to hook into the house ac system. I had an exhaust fan installed and it does a great job except for cigars in the ac summer. It handles the pipe schmoke just fine.
I am a happy man. 8)

I have to say I smoke in my apt. I just moved here last week and was fortunate that I found a place that I am not discriminated against. Being from northern WI and moving back up north it gets cold and we get lots of snow!!!! I never really smoked outside because I just started. I am looking forward to enjoying my pipe outside on a nice summer evening.
I noticed a couple of single women in the building that sit outside and smoke, I am kind of looking forward to this :D

I do a lot of smoking in the garage. I hooked up cable T.V., ceiling fans, a couch, coffee table, beer cooler. Next, I'm gonna tie into the central air and get a rug on the floor. You might as well be comfortable.

My smoking is strictly outside. Rain,snow,sub-minus cold conditions, it doesn't matter.

When the weather is really rotten, I will go for a drive in my car and smoke in there.

I'm not a heavy pipe smoker anyways. I smoke one pipe load a day, everyday. (I gotta have it, guess I'm addicted)

On days I am not working I will do two.

When we found out my wife was pregnant, I moved the smoking to the garage; really, I just never ended up moving back in...by the time the kid came along, I had built myself a decent man-cave, complete with comfy chairs, HDTV, and a beer fridge. I've invested in a couple of ceramic heaters for the winter, and in the summer, its the coolest (non-AC) room in the house; usually maintains a nice 23-25c.

As the weather improves, however, I find myself being drawn outside more and more with the pipe - there is something about mowing the lawn, washing the truck, standing over the BBQ, or just simply contemplating the world going by on a sunny afternoon that is akin to a little slice of heaven.

My grandfather smoked in this house. My father smoked in this house, and by god, I smoke in this house.
My only rule regarding smoking here is don't burn the house down.

Same deal for me, minus the pregnant wifey, that and my man cave is inside the house.
